The room was in complete silence. For a moment Jez felt like she was drowning in the silence. Nobody moved. Nobody said a word. She looked to Steve who untangled his fingers from hers. This upset her even more. He didn't look at her but just went to the window that they had come in. Jez thought that she was going to explode.

"Steve please," she said. The others just watched in silence. Jez had to leave the room then. She could feel tears coming.

She could feel tears running down her cheeks but couldn't remember when she started to cry. Jez had known that this would happen and she thought that she'd be prepared but she obviously wasn't. She had secretly believed that Steve wasn't the kind of man who would leave her.

"Jez," Peter whispered to her and joined her in the next room. No one else could hear.

Peter realised that Steve wasn't going to do anything. She allowed herself to be embraced by him. "I can't believe that that just happened. He actually dumped you. Is her crazy? Jez you deserve better than him. You should be with someone who'll be there for you through good times and bad. Please Jez you have to be listening to me."

Suddenly Jez was falling. They both were. Jezebel's legs had collapsed beneath her and Peter had fallen with her. He took off his mask and used it to wipe Jezebel's tears off her face as he hushed her into silent sobs.

"There is no one better than him Peter," Jez whispered back through her sobs. "I love him so much and he's just going to leave me alone forever. I knew it was coming but I just didn't know it would hurt this much."

Peter kissed Jezebel's head and rubbed her back. He literally couldn't believe that he was doing something like this. It made him sick that Steve would just let a girl as fantastic as Jez go like that. When Jez was ready they joined the others again in the room. Steve was still standing at the window.

"It's his way of grieving," Jez whispered to Peter who was glaring at Steve. "When he's upset he goes completely quiet and zones out. He does it when he thinks of Peggy." Jez choked on Steve's first love's name.

Bruce and Tony had engrossed themselves in the computers trying to give everyone else as much privacy as they could. Jez stood and went to the table. She picked up the vial of blue liquid.

"What is this?" she asked calming down again. She looked through the vial and the room turned blue. Peter stood beside her with his hand on the small of her back. She felt a little uncomfortable but now wasn't the time to say anything. Peter was being a real friend and was just being supportive.

Tony turned to see Jez with the vial. He snatched it out of her hands and placed it back on the table.

"Nothing," he said turning back to the computer. "It's very dangerous. I'm not even going to suggest it."

"Bruce?" Jez asked knowing that Bruce couldn't lie to Jez. Bruce turned around slowly knowing that he couldn't ignore Jez.

"There is one thing that we could try," Bruce finally said not being able to take the sad mood anymore. "Like Tony said, it's extremely dangerous and Steve only had a fourteen percent chance of surviving it." Steve was now at the table too. He was far enough away from Jez that they weren't touching but close enough so that he could see the vial too.

"Explain it to me," he said not taking his eyes off of his last chance.

Bruce and Tony shared a worried look before opening up some more files.

"We're calling it Blue Blood after Jez," Tony said in a business style. "It's an extremely dangerous liquid that when consumed can change your blood to help match that of the BlueJay, not the bird though. It will only give you the power to avoid aging. That is, if you survive. Chances are you won't."

Now even Peter was intrigued. He had been considering the idea for a while now and liked the idea of being young forever.

"Can anyone take it?" he asked stopping himself from taking the vial there and then.

"No," Bruce continued. "Every vial is unique to a certain person. This one is Steve's. We recommend not taking it though."

Steve picked up the vial but Jez snatched it out of his hands before he could open it.

"Not a chance," Jez said holding it close to her chest. "Steve think about this." She looked right at him for the first time since the news. His blue eyes were full of pain and regret.

"I can't Jez," he said holding out his hand for it. "I can't live without you. I know that that sounds dramatic and cliché but you just don't understand." Jez squeezed the vial tighter.

"I understand completely Steve," Jez insisted. "You could have a normal life without me. You could grow old with the perfect girl and have kids and grandkids. You don't need to do this for me. This isn't a gift it's a curse and I'm not letting you sacrifice your only chance of a normal happy life for me. God what do any of you see in me? I'm like a bloody disease!"

Steve leaped for the vial in Jezebel's hand. He knocked her to the ground and the vial rolled across the room. They both fumbled to get it knocking each other out of the way.

"Never say that about yourself again!" Steve yelled at Jez. "Clearly you don't understand how I feel about you."

"I love you more than you love me," Jez said feeling childish the second she said it.

"Oh no you don't," Steve replied in a Pantomime way.

"Well you're a better person," Jez countered. "You chose to be a hero but i was forced to." She had the vial but Steve tickled her and she dropped it.

"I beg to differ," Steve said going to open the vial. "I've never met someone who cared so much about others." Jez tackled it out of his hands before he could.

"Please stop fighting!" Bruce yelled. "You're both being stupid. Steve listen to Jez and think about it. This really is a huge decision. Peter stop them!"

"Stay out of this!" Jez yelled back ignoring him. She was too taken up with keeping Steve away from the vial. Jez and Steve were knocking over tables and other furniture as they fought each other trying to get to the stupid vial.

"Stop!" Bruce yelled but there was so much commotion that no one heard. Tony was busy trying to keep his newly fixed home from being damaged again and Peter was trying to break up the fight.

A deep roar shook the room and everybody stopped. The vial flew across the room and everybody's eyes followed it. It rolled between two huge, green legs. Somebody was angry.

"Great," Tony said and ran for his suit. Everyone else was frozen in fear. Jez and Steve looked at the vial that could choose their futures. All that was between them and it was a Hulk. To make things worse, this time they weren't a team.

So a little unexpected chance there for Steve :O Please vote, fan, comment and recommend and let me know who you think should get the vile.
