"Oh! Hey! You must be Mr. Clark's assistant!" I greet a short girl with curly red hair in freckles. She nods her head to indicate that I'm right.
"Right this way." She meekly whispers. I follow her to the elevator, and to the basement. She takes me to costuming to get my uniform.
"So you work for Mr. Clark?" I ask her.
"Yes."
"Do you like it?"
"It's ok."
"Just ok?" I ask her. She just looks down. Refusing to make eye contact. "What's your name?"
"Lily."
"Nice to meet you, Lily, I'm Amber." We don't talk for the rest of the time. We just get to point a to point b in minimal time. I wore a blue skirt, red, black and green vest, white shirt and blue tie. I was already sweating! And I wasn't in the Florida sun yet! We met the group. It was a party of 5. There was a mother, father, an 8 year old girl, a 6 year old boy, and a 3 year old boy wearing a bright red T-Shirt, and Micky Ears. The party was clearly annoyed by whatever and was snippy.
"Took you long enough!" The Mom rants.
"Can't we just get this started?" The Dad starts.
"Right away, sir. This first stop is Frontier Land. Now Frontier Land was-"
"Can we ride some rides?" The daughter whines.
"We want to go on rides!"The Mom requests. Can you just be somewhat pleasing?
"Which one?" I grin.
"That Peter Pan's Flight ride!" The father orders.
"Right this way." I beam as I guide them through the bridge. We spend HOURS going on rides. I have a feeling that they were only using this experience to get to the front of the lines. They just tell me where they want to go, I guide them to the ride, they complain about the walk, and repeat.
They decide to go to each ride that is close. Thank God. We go on Monsters Inc. Laugh floor, and I get reassured that the family has no sense of humor. The father gets to be, 'That Guy', and glares the whole time. The mother whispers in her sons ear the whole time. After they make a joke, the mother scolds her children for finding this 'Amusing'.
"They could be playing an instrument now!" The mother whines.
"It was YOUR idea!" The father snaps back. The show finishes, and we reassess on the bridge to Tomorrow Land. The family huddles in, deciding which ride to go on next, but the three year old son starts to wander about.
"Woah! Careful there!" I warn, but he doesn't care. His parents and siblings couldn't care less.
"We'd like to go on-" The mother starts but gets interrupted.
"Someone's in the lake!" A shrill voice screeches. I don't think. I run over. Seeing who it might be. Sure enough, I see a red T-Shirt poking out of the water. Two black circles closely follow it.
"My Baby's in there!"
