"I'm proud of you, Trick." I said as I wrapped My arms around him from behind.
He sighed and leaned into my grasp, continuing to watch our nine year old flip the pages to a book. "I'm sick of worrying, Pete. I don't wanna worry about our daughter getting taken by that creep. I wanna be worried about boys, school, Kids who bully her... not some psychopath!"
I nuzzled his neck. "Same here, babe."
He turned to face me. "We've started getting these." he shoved an envelope into my chest.
I opened them. Pictures of us and Razzel with only Razzel circled.
"We need to talk to her. We need to be able to get her to open up about her biological parents."
I sighed. "That's going to be hard."
He shrugged. "Let's just ease it on her." He knocked on her bedroom door. "Hey, baby. We need to talk to you."
Razzel looked up from her book and nodded. "What's up?"
Patrick sat facing her. "If we tell you that we need you to talk about your parents, will you be okay with that?"
Razzel's eyes widened and she quickly shook her head. "I can't do it, daddy!" she cried.
Patrick pulled her into a hug. "Its the only thing that can help us right now. We need you to be strong. Can you do that for us?"
She shrugged. "Who will I be talking to?"
Patrick looked up at me. "We'll call some people. We'll let you know when we find out."
(Picture one of those cheesy movie montages, one thing after another.)
News headline: Fall Out Boys Patrick and Pete Wentz' daughter causing too much drama?
*Patrick and Pete walking out of a hearing* Pete: No, we won't be getting rid of her... we love Razzel.
News Headline: What's wrong with their daughter?
*Pete and Patrick sitting in a hearing with Razzel* Razzel: Last thing my mommy said was that she loved me.
Razzel: I saw him. He walked up to me and smiled saying that I should say goodbye to my mommy and daddy.
Razzel: It was him. I remember the voice.
Razzel: I remember a lot of screaming and yelling. My daddy was cut off by a loud bang and then my mommy was screaming. She was begging him. But he didn't listen. He said that he loved her. He said that he couldn't wait until my sixteenth year of life...
(End of montage)
Knock! Knock!
I looked over my shoulder.
"Daddy, Where's Panda?" Razzel asked. She was all dressed and ready for bed, her doll in her arms.
I shrugged. "I don't know, baby."
"I can't go to bed without a good night hug from him." she pouted.
I patted the bed as I laid down.
She crawled up next to me and snuggled into me.
"Can you try?" I asked.
She nodded. "Will he be home?"
I nodded, But I was still unsure. That promise was long. We waited...
and waited...
and waited...
and talked...
and waited some more...
and tickled each other...
and waited...
and talked...
and waited...
and joked around...
and waited...
until I checked the clock and realized Razzel was still awake. She was crying.
"Honey, Panda will be home. I need you to get some sleep before school." I pleaded.
She hugged me tightly. "He's not here." she sobbed.
I rubbed her back until she stopped crying and fell asleep.
-Morning-
"C'mon, Razzel! We have to go!" I called.
Razzel wasn't her usual happy self. She seemed sad and depressed and lonely.
I took her hand and we walked out to the car.
-Back.At.Home-
"Pete?" I asked.
He was in the kitchen. "Hey, Trick!" he smiled.
I gave him a look of disbelief. "After a long night of staying up with Razzel and trying to get her to fall asleep because she missed Pandas hugs... all you have to say is "Hey, Trick!"?" I cried.
He looked down. "I'm sorry."
"No, where were you, Peter?" I demanded.
He looked sad and avoided eye contact.
"Pete..." I said more sternly.
He looked up with pleading eyes. "Please don't hate me."
I was confused. "Why? What did you do?"
"I-I... I cheated on you. I'm so sorry, Trick... I didn't mean too... I got so wasted and then next thing I know, I woke up next to a naked Ashley naked myself!" he sobbed, sliding to the floor.
I hugged him. "Pete, Please be quiet... why were you at a bar?" I asked.
"I can't deal with this..." he said.
"Drinking won't solve your problems!" I cried. "Razzel woke up devastated because you weren't here last night. You know you're the only one who can make her feel the safest."
He nodded and looked down.
"As for the whole Ashley thing... I'm mad... but not at you. I'm thinking she had something to do with this..."
"I wanna break... from the band." he said suddenly.
"What?" I asked.
He nodded and wiped a tear off his face. "Yeah, that's what we need. While we're dealing with all this stuff, we shouldn't have our band in the way... we need a break. We have our last tour coming up. The one for Folie A Deux... we'll start right after we get home."
I nodded. "That sounds good."
(I lied, but then again... I can't always promise something... so that's why you never see the words I Promise anywhere... :)
