A loud horn of a car echoed and the bright light from its headlight is visible even in her closed eyes, but Krissy bravely took a few steps forward.
It felt like everything was in slow motion as she waited for the approaching vehicle to send her to her doom. Death almost welcomed her but a strong grip pulled her back to the deleterious reality.
"Krissy!" even hearing that loud baritone voice didn't stop Krissy from keeping her eyes strongly shut.
Her knees trembled like she was standing in a wire. She gave all her weight down to the sidewalk. Her tears began pouring again, her eyes still closed.
"Krissy, are you okay?"
Though the voice sounded familiar, she couldn't match up to who it belongs. She looked up and saw a dazzling man before her. His thick brows in line with worry reflected on his green pair of eyes.
"Justine?" she whispered in the midst of her sobs.
The good thing about Justine's company is that he never forced her to explain the reason of her tears, that's what Krissy thought.
They just sat side by side without saying a single word, in a park bench where Justine took her when he saw her crying in the middle of the street. Justine respects her privacy and she was grateful for that.
When she felt her tears dried up, she opened the bottle of water that Justine bought for her earlier and emptied it out. After all her weeps, she felt dehydrated and empty that even the bottle of water could not fill her up.
"Do you want more?" Justine asked in worry, offering his own bottle of water.
"No thanks, I'm fine." she stared up to the blanket of stars above them.
"I won't ask you what's wrong but I'm just concerned with one thing, would you want to hear it out?"
"Sure, go ahead." she anticipated for his question and formulated hundreds of possible things that he could ask.
"Why did you dropped out of school?" Of all the things, it was the least she expected. "I mean, one day you didn't come to school. I thought it was only that day but then you didn't come to school the day after that either, until the number of days increased. And just recently, our homeroom teacher announced that you already dropped out."
Even Krissy was not aware that she has already dropped out. In fact, going to school wasn't in her concern lately, especially with the recent problems that came up with the unexpected twist of her life. Maybe it was her parents' decision that she should stop going to school for now. If that was it, then she'd better talk to them about it. Because even though she is to be wed into a young billionaire, she still wanted to earn a degree.
"Oh about that, I am not really abandoning my education. It's just that I moved to another house and our school is a few hours drive away and it would really be inconvenient for me." she find it hard to explain to her former classmate without giving him a hint of her current situation. Because even though Justine has been nice to her today, she still couldn't just share to him her problem. They were not that close back then and she was unsure if he'll be worthy of her greatest secret.
