Chapter 5: Questions

"Okay!Where do you want to go?"the Doctor asked excitedly."Anywhere in time and space!"I wanted to go see my mother but I didn't say anything."Or we could just drift in space.Yes,that's always nice,"he said."Doctor,did you know my mother?"I asked him.

"Hm?Oh,uh,yes.I did,"he answered."And my great-grandfather I suppose.How well did you know her?"I questioned.He gazed at the console sadly."Um,well enough,"he replied.He had a look on his face as if he had no where to run.He never looked at me.

"I should've known..."he whispered."Known what?"Amy asked.He turned his head towards me."You're a lot like her.You have the same attitude,"he chuckled."Doctor,did something happen?"I asked.He turned to Amy and Rory.

"Uh,I need to talk with Anna,alone,"he told them.They nodded and left.His back was to me."She used to travel with me..."he said."Used to?What happened?"I wondered."...Donna was the most important woman in the universe.She was part Time-Lord,part human.But,you see,she couldn't have everything in her head.It would've burned her mind so..."he stopped.

"So,what?""...So I had to make her forget it all.Including me,"he turned around.

"Let me see if I understand this.She couldn't remember you,or see you,otherwise she would die,is that correct?"I asked him.He looked at his feet."May I ask you something?"he said."Yeah.""Is Donna dead?"he said.

I didn't answer.I hadn't talked about my mother's death in a very long while."Okay,how did she die?"he requested."Uh,I don't know,"I lied.He glanced at me.He knew I was lying,I could see it in his eyes."All right,what about your father?"Again,I never responded."You don't know,fine.Anyway,where do you want to go?"he asked again.He gave a friendly smile.

"Can I see her?"I asked.I took a deep breath.I was trying not to cry."Can you take me to see her?""Yes.But if I do...you have to promise me you won't go interfering with her,"the Doctor said.I gave a faint smile.He lowered some levers and pushed and pulled a few buttons.There was that familiar noise and it stopped.

I looked at him."Are we here?"He gestured towards the door.He and I ran to it.I opened the door and stepped out."We're in London in 2008.A year before....uh,Donna should be,"he looked at his watch,"at the Cafe,I suppose."I looked over there.

There was my mother.She had red hair.Darker than Amy's.She was talking to an old man.My great-grandfather I guess.I was shocked."She's beautiful..."I said."Where are you?"he asked me.My heart sank."My brother and I are in a foster home in Alva,Kentucky,"I responded."Let's go to the Cafe..."He nodded as we walked across the street.

The place had very few people in it.We sat at the table behind them.Occasionally,I would glance over but I didn't want them to look at me.I kept noticing the old man looking at the Doctor.Like he knew him."Doctor,"I whispered getting his attention.

"He keeps looking at you. As if he recognizes you.""That's because he does know me.The old me though,"he answered.I shrugged and got up.I had to talk to her."What are you doing?"he asked.I ignored him and walked over to her and tapped her on the shoulder.She turned around.

"Yes?"she asked me.I didn't know what to say."Uh,I just wanted to say that I liked your jacket.It's looks very pretty on you,"I complimented her."Oh.Well,thank you!"she said.I smiled and turned back to the Doctor.He looked at me.

"What?"I asked him."Nothing.."he shook his head."Well,I think we should go,"I said.He nodded and he got up.He adjusted his jacket and we headed to the door.I glanced once more at her.She caught me this time.Her smile faded into a shock.She must've known it was me.But,she just shook her head and went back to her talking.

The Doctor unlocked the TARDIS door's but peered at the cafe once more.The man looked at him like the Doctor was a man he couldn't remember.He pushed the doors open and pulled me in."You needed to do that didn't you?"he asked me.He ran up the staps and leaned against the console."Yeah,"I answered.

Amy and Rory came up the stairs."Where were you guys?"Amy asked."Oh,just popped out for a minute!"he grinned as he ran around the platform happily.
