I inhale deeply, but end up coughing. I hold my hand in front of my chest, processing what I just witnessed. I'm not prude; this girl does not know me. She looked at me once and judged me by my look. She does not know anything about me, or my life for that matter. I worked hard and always follow the rules, so I do think I earned this. Okay, maybe not a frat house party, where I do not know anybody, but still. I sigh loudly. I shouldn't think that. I judged her too, judged her by her appearance.
Finn doesn't pick up so I decide to text him. *Where are you, you didn't come back.* I quickly press send, hoping we still have time to do something else when we get away from here.
I look around, allowing myself to take in the beauty of the night. For years now, I would only see it through the windows of my room, imagining what it would be like. And even though a frat house never came into my mind, I do appreciate the fact that I'm finally out. Is this what it feels like? A normal teenager, going to parties?
I breathe in the chill night air, watching the people run down the street. After good ten minutes, and constantly checking my phone I decide it's no use and walk back into the house. My feet hurt from all the standing. Maybe if I find Emma or Heather I may find Finn as well. Where could he be anyway?
''Hey Mia, right?''
I turn to the voice and smile slightly at Jamie, whom stands in front of me. She hands me a red cup. ''I'm sorry because of Evelyn. She's a bitch,'' she laughs.
I smile, my dimples showing. ''I don't know why she said that, she doesn't know me.''
''It's just typical Eve,'' she says, shrugging. I place the cup she gave me on a table near me. She raises an eyebrow at me. ''You don't drink?''
I wrinkle my noise. Why is it always such a shock for people that I not drink? ''Not really. I just don't see the use in it. It smells disgusting.''
Jamie laughs ''Yeah, that's true. But it does its job," she says with the edge of the cup on her mouth. Her hand wraps around my wrist and I notice a tattoo on her hand. A sun. It's colorless, covering almost the whole backside of her hand. Little tattoos are spread on her fingers, but I couldn't make them out.
''Come we go outside, the others all spread after you disappeared.'' She pulls on my wrist.
I bite my lip. ''Oh, I don't know I actually would like not to see Eve or Harry again.. .''
''Don't worry. Eve and Harry are... otherwise occupied at the moment'', she giggles, pointing with her index finger towards the back of the room. Sure enough Eve and Harry are still sitting, or lying, on the couch making out. She sitting on his lap, leg on each side of him, while she grinds against him. Eve gets up, pulling on Harry's black shirt and moving towards the staircase.
My stomach turns and I turn around. Jamie shrugs. ''The usual.''
I raise my brow feeling my stomach even drop deeper. ''I didn't consider Harry being the type of person that would have girlfriend,'' I admin. Not that I care.
My subconscious rolls her eyes.
Jamie starts laughing loudly. ''Harry never dates, he just likes to mess around with a lot of girls.''
''Oh,'' is all I can manage to say. She pulls my wrist again, leading me towards the backyard. I couldn't help, but turn my head towards the staircase the heavy feeling only increasing.
The backyard isn't as full as I thought. People are standing in little groups, talking, smoking and drinking. One of them sitting in the very back, are my friends. They are sitting on the grass, in a circle drinking and smoking.
