The music is loud, louder than I thought it would be. This is definitely not how I expect the night to end. Finn's words still pound in my head. It feels like stone falling on top of my head repeatedly and I cannot help but put my head in my hands and let out a long groan.
"Are you alright?" the voice asks and mutes the radio. It sounds like it's coming from the distance.
I shrug, not wanting to answer. Honestly I don't even know what I should tell him. He knows most of it probably. Judging by the look he gave me when I ran over to him and practically jumped into his car. There is so much that makes sense now, but at the same time nothing makes any sense at all.
"My father trained me. He and my mother worked along side with your parents as well as the Styles Family. I can't tell you who they worked for, or what they did. But I guess you can imagine some of it?"
No, I really can't. What is there to imagine? That my parents were killers? Or spy's? Am I in a mainstream teenage drama movie?
"They weren't the only ones of course. But they sticked together at the end. They were one team, them against the rest of the world..." he said dreamy as if he was remembering himself. "So when one of them made an enemy, they all did. Kind of like the three musketeers, you know? And their enemy wasn't so keen for that."
I lean my head back against the soft fabric of the car and close my eyes. I can hear him breath near me, softly and gentle. So distracting. But for once that is all I wanted. Distraction. And I need it know, because the words just won't stop.
"What happened? I don't know exactly what happened, Mia. I do know that their enemy is still out there. So I asked my father to train me. To be just like him. A protector. And I was good at it, very good. I learned quickly and now I am out here to protect you and find him."
"To do what? And why protect me? Why can't Bob and my mother do that?"
He shrugged. "That's just the mission I got. I wanted one, I wanted to be useful." He saw the look on my face. "You don't believe me do you?"
"I didn't say that."
"You didn't had to."
"Who did our parents work for" I sigh. I was sick of this. He was right, of course he was. I didn't believe any of this crap.
"Let me just say that for a really high place. But everything they did, they did for our Nation and safety."
I didn't know if I should cry or laugh. "So they're like spy and soldier in one?" I couldn't keep myself from rolling my eyes. "Okay. Let us just pretend like I believe any of this cute little story you made up. Why are you the one that tells me this? Couldn't my mother do it without laughing?"
"I am telling you the truth! Haven't you ever asked yourself why you weren't allowed to be out past seven pm? Or that your mother and Bob are constantly on edge when you told them that you were out? Or that your mother doesn't want you to go to College? All this moving you did? It's not like you moved because your mother got a new job or something."
Of course I did! Who else wouldn't? But that's just to ridiculous to believe! My parents were not super spy's! They are just over protective. They must be.
"Well, I also wonder why you beat up Harry when you're suppose to be our guardian angle! And why you never told me that you hate him so much! You just think that I am suppose to believe in something that makes absolutely no sense!"
"You need time to wrap your head around this. I will leave you alone, okay? This is much to progress and it's very late."
He leaned down, kissed my forehead and was out before I even got the chance to say goodbye. As soon as I heard Finn drive away I texted Harry.
*Please pick me up.*"What did your parents tell you?" I ask withouth making eye contact. I didn't want him to see the frustration and building tears in my eyes.
He's silent for a few stretching moments. "Nothing I didn't know before honestly," he says. "They told me what I guess they told you today a few years back."
I can feel a few tears run down my cheeks and the sudden anger and frustration that builds up inside of me makes me want to scream. "Finn said that my mother worked for a higher place and that she did bad things and that she made enemies. He talked to me like a I was an unstable 6 year old that couldn't take the truth."
"Why did Finn tell you anyway?"
I lean my head against the window and watch the city go by. "Where are we going?"
He smiles and I suddenly feel his hand on my tight. So sudden, for a moment, I stop breathing. He squeezes his hand and then let's it go. And, by my own surprise and in a non typical way of mine, I take his hand and place it back on my tight.
He clears his throat and the tension between us solves a little bit. "I though you might wanted to get a little distraction from all this madness?" he asks.
Moments later he parks and when I see outside I'm confronted with the beach we first spend time on. I smile and get out, taking in the fresh air that smells like sea and a little bit of Harry. I grin. "You can read my mind, eh?"
He gives me a glance and one of his dimples pop as he helps me sit on top of the hood. "I wish. I often wonder what is on your mind," he says truthfully and his cheeks flash in a darker pink. He sits next to me. "I sometimes used to watch you. In school I mean. You were always surrounded by friends. And when you were alone you always seemed like you had some sort of plan. A place you needed to be."
"Well... That's kind of creepy," I laugh and he chuckles. He looks down at me, biting his lower lip. "I saw you, too. Mostly at home, out of my window. At nights when you were going to party or something."
"That's not even creepy anymore that is called stalking," he says and I laugh again. It's a nice feeling, being alone, outside at night, laughing. Shouldn't my life always be like this?
"I woke you up didn't I?" he suddenly asks, nervously scratching his chin. "All these times you saw me outside I mean."
I shrug and draw circles with my fingers on my legs. "Yeah, you did. Would you like to tell me why?"
It's silent, no answer and I start to fear that I might have asked too much. My heart gets heavy, but to my surprise he takes a deep breath and answers. For once. "Okay, I am going to tell you excatly what my parents told me my senior year" he begins and takes out his phone. I watch him turn it off and jump off the hood to put it into his car. "Give me yours as well."
I blink, taking a few moments before realizing, "I forgot it home."
"Good," he says and returns to his original place. "That way there won't be anyone listening."
My eyes widen. "Who would want to listen? Could they?"
He gives me a look as if I just fell off the moon and asked him if he had an Ananas he could leant me. "Have you been living under a rock? All these agencys spying... that's nothing new," he smiles slightly. "Are you ready?"
I nod, too excited to even speak. Finally I'm getting some answers. Surprising thing is to get it from Harry. He takes my hand, lacing his fingers with mine and begins.
