By the Friday after Peter waking up, it was like he was never on his deathbed. He was back to being the dorkiest superhero ever and stealing the heart of a broken warrior. Laura and Peter decided to say fuck it. If there's any type of target on their heads they promised to protect each other. They are superheroes, right? They've talked about everything that you'd talk about in a relationship. Even the things that required May to leave the room. School was back to normal and it was as if they weren't slammed against the wall or a locker. There's only one change that isn't really a change. Flash is messing with Peter about dating the "hot girl" from the Stark internship.
Laura usually fights back, saying Flash is just jealous that a hot guy got a hot girlfriend and that daddy's money doesn't equal love. It usually gets him to shut up, usually. He has his moments of just bark and no bite. Tonight was date night for the two new lovers. Peter hasn't been this nervous since kissing Michelle in London. This time he was legitimately in love with her and the best part is that she's in love with him. May helped Laura to get ready while Peter got ready himself. Laura couldn't stop talking to May about Peter. Honestly, May was glad he finally found someone who is compatible with sweet Peter. She could tell Laura was nervous too.
Though she's had a boyfriend before, she's never had a proper date. So this is completely new and out of the ordinary for her.
"Laura, I can tell when Peter is more than happy with anything anyone presents to him. Even if you were in your worst clothes, he'll love you no matter what. By the way you're stunning honey." Laura blushed.
"Thanks May." She turned around and gave her a hug.
May gladly hugged back. Peter was in the living room sitting in the recliner waiting for her to come out. He questioned his manliness as time went by. He's seen her naked and done things to her that he thought was a pipe dream to do with a woman, but he was fiddling with nerves. He couldn't understand it but he had to roll with it.
"Tada!" May said proudly.
Peter stands and immediately his jaw drop. High five Aunt May! Laura can't help but bite her lip from how good he looks. It's not a science pun shirt or a preppy school boy look. He actually looked like a hunky guy about to go on a date with a girl out of his league and he was trying hard to impress her. Even though Laura isn't out of his league. She didn't mind though. All she could think about is how hot her boyfriend is. Peter smiled and kissed Laura, not caring that May is still there. This is his girl. His girl. Just the thought warms his heart. Laura can't stop smiling. He's so good to her. Her man.
They're still teens but in her opinion he's her man. Hell, he acts more like a man than most men do. Her heart is complete and for once she's truly happy. He did that to a girl who's been so cold hearted for so long. May, of course, wanted a picture before they left.
"How shall we travel, my dear?" Peter asked.
"By foot tonight. I just want an excuse for us to be kind of alone with no one watching us. We have too much of that already." She said honestly.
It's true. They're never been alone, alone. There's always been someone nearby. So tonight it's just the two of them. The place they're going to is like coffee shop in the morning and bar/restaurant at night. Nothing too fancy. It's small and intimate. They get there and Peter is his usual gentleman self. To spare the usual first date details, they talk like they haven't seen each other in two years. But it's amazing. They hold hands the entire time except for when they're eating. All Laura can think about is "Is this what love really feels like?"
At one point she even had some food on her chin. Peter did the cutesy thing where he wiped her chin. But this time he didn't sit back right away. He leaned forward and kissed her. Laura could get used to this.
"I love you." Peter said in a shy tone before taking a bite.
"Babe, why are you so shy about it?" Laura asked kind of concerned.
"Because I'm not used to saying it. Well, to someone who isn't May or Ned... or Happy." Peter blushed.
Laura chuckled at his cute quirk. He's truly perfect. After dinner they walked to a nearby park. Peter noticed a bench nearby and how Laura's feet were aching from her heels though she'd deny it. He compared it to a limp after a fight with a villain. He decided to lift her up and carry her there. Laura giggled from being caught off guard. When he sat them down, he made sure to place Laura in his lap. Peter held her with such gentleness that he could put a baby to sleep in no time. Laura grabbed his face and kissed him. She didn't care who saw them kissing or how much they have been kissing. To some, it had reached that gross factor. A little too much. Laura only cared about the love.
They stopped when she asked a very risky question Laura knew deep down that once she goes back to Xavier's, they'll have limited contact. This scared her.
"I hate to bring this up because I know it's too soon to tell, but what will happen when the academy is over?" She felt ashamed but it had to be asked. Even Peter knows it had to be. He thought about it for a second.
"Well, I hope we will still have what we do now. I don't see why we wouldn't." He said.
"Contract to the outside world from the institution is limited. I just hope Xavier can make an exception." Laura leaned her forehead on his, feeling pain bubbling up.
"Until then, let's think of the positive. Prom is coming up." Peter changed the subject. Prom is the most romantic night in a young person's life.
"So I'm going to be your date? By the way what's prom?" The last question was a joke but she knew he'd fall for it.
"Yes and uh um, how do I explain it." He became flustered. Laura started laughing
"I'm kidding babe." He chuckled and kissed her. "I know what prom is. We just don't have it at Xavier's."
"I'm sorry. But luckily, you will be here for our prom. So..." Peter trailed off.
"So..." Laura knew what he was about to ask but wanted him to have the balls to say it.
"Will you be my date?" Peter was glad that it was dark enough out that she couldn't see him blushing.
"First, I know you're blushing. It's not hard to figure out and second, I'd love to be your date." Again with the kissing.
"So I guess it's set. You will be my absolutely stunning date. Star of the show and my Prom Queen." Laura laughed at how extra he was being.
"You're so quirky and so extra. What did I do to deserve you?" She asked with a lighthearted tone.
"Kicked my ass in a sparring ring." This made her roll her eyes. Life was too good.
