When you think about time, you realize it goes by so fast. Even when it feels like it is never ending. For Peter and Laura, it's going by too fast. It is now three weeks out from prom and the couple has nothing planned for it except what color they have chosen. They went with maroon since it's a shade of red. When laura sees the color, she thinks of something that's probably flattering on her but mostly the fact that Peter's suit has red. It is way better than her suit colors. Black would make it feel like a funeral. Yellow is... eh not the greatest looking thing on everyone and makes people stand out too much. White is a dangerous color for all. Nothing blue is in her size.

There's only one woman who can successfully help Laura get the job done, May. Tony promised to pay for both of them and help Peter look like a man. May gladly agreed to help Laura. Today was an early release day for spring break so Laura and May had time to go shopping before Laura had to hop on the bus. Peter tried to tag along but they went with tradition when the date doesn't see their date's outfit till prom night. Peter did try to pull his infamous pouty face, but none of them fell for it. On the car ride there, May decided to bring up a topic she knew Laura can't wiggle around.

"Hey Laura, I know this may be much, but I really have to ask for yours and Peter's health, are you two having you know, protected sex?" Laura was stunned by the question.

"Um. Yeah. Yeah we are." She said getting nervous thinking that May was going to hate her for taking her nephew, who's like a son to her, virginity a while back.

"I'm not mad sweetie. I'm actually glad it was you. I wouldn't want any of those other girls out there sleeping with him. They're walking diseases." Laura laughed knowing that it's partially true.

"Just promise me one thing?" May asked.

"Yeah what is it?" Laura replied.

"Since you said that you are using protection, please promise to keep using it." Laura nodded her head.

"Yeah of course. Definitely not read to be parents just yet." That was a lie but for the sake of May's sanity she doesn't need to know what Laura's body is capable of.

As if on queue, they pull into the dress shop. The hostess at the front gladly started helping when she was given the size and color. They sat there patiently as the hostess came back with arms full of dresses. Laura tried them on. That one is too puffy, this one is too slutty, that one is from 1450. Laura was starting to become discouraged. Why the hell was dress shopping so hard to do?

"May I don't know what to do. That was the 10th dress." Laura confided in May, feeling hopeless as the woman left to get more dresses.

"Sweetie, it'll be alright. Just like a wedding dress, you'll know when you find the right dress." She hugged Laura.

"I'm glad I chose you to help me. I'm sure Peter has told you some stuff about my past to you. You're like a mom to me now and this entire experience with you is making me feel like my mom never died." Laura's words made May tear up.

"I'm glad I get to do this with you, you're the daughter I never had." May pulled Laura into a hug while fighting back tears.

At first the embrace shocked Laura. So this is what mother's do, huh? It was odd but felt right. She hugged the older woman back with a smile. After their moment of realizing how lucky they are, the woman comes back with 5 more dresses. A couple, though they were nice, didn't fit at all. Another one was a mix of too tight, too puffy, and too slutty. Somehow that's a mix? The other didn't scream Laura. It was the last one. The last one was it. This was the dress and when she walked out, May started to cry.

Laura, with happy tears in her eyes said, "This is it. This is the one."

All three of them were excited. For once, Laura was extremely excited about dresses, makeup and just being girly. A burning passionate feeling grew in her chest. Pure joy. So this is what it feels like to be human? Happiness, sadness, anger, stress, all of it. Not just anger and sadness. It made her for just a moment, forget she was even mutant. That she wasn't a so called freak. It was a perfect moment indeed. Lauras wasn't looking when May did this, but May took the most beautiful candid photo of Laura was she admired her dress. She knew that after prom, Peter would want to see this beautiful memory. It is one for the books.

"Peter's jaw is going to drop when he sees you." May said placing her hands on Laura's shoulders.

She stared at the young girl in awe. Laura managed to bite her lip and make it look like it was out of admiration for the dress. But her mind vanished from the perfection of her dress to what her dress will be. The thought she had in her head had her try to hide the fact that she was squeezing her thighs together to stop what was happening under the dress. What she was really thinking was, "Yeah that'll happen, but by the end of the night it'll be dropping on the floor.'
