Avira's POV
"Think about what you want to do, and will yourself to do it." Pennywise instructed me for the third time. I had already (somehow) managed to make an illusion, but now I was trying to turn myself invisible. Jeez, I rather sit through Mrs. Smeltzer's boring history class than keep doing this.
"Focus Avira." He snapped, and I flinched. I looked at him with a cold gaze and his expression softened. I closed my eyes and thought hard. A minute later I felt a cold whoosh of air run past me and I looked down at my hands; they were gone.
"I did it!" I shouted as I jumped around. I made myself visible again and looked at Pennywise who smiled coldly.
"Good job Avira. Now follow me." He instructed as he began walking out of the sewers. "Time for you to use your charm-speak and test your telepathy skills."
I swallowed hard. "Where are we going?"
"You'll see."
Pennywise led me to the sewer entrance and pointed at 3 boys in the distance. "Use your powers and bring one of them to me."
"W-what?"
"You heard me. Bring me one of the boys."
I took a deep breathe and began walking to the clearing that the 3 boys were in. "Well, what do we have here." One of the boys said when they saw me. His friends turned and looked at me up and down.
"Whats your name, doll?" A boy said.
"My name's Avira... what's yours?" I said, biting my lip.
"Well Avira, I'm Jackson, that's Ryan and Josh. " Jackson said, gesturing to the other boys.
I nodded. "What's a girl like you doing out here, huh?" The boy named Ryan asked.
"Well..." I said softly, walking closer to Jackson. "I needed a little... help with something... so I figured you could help me..." I winked at Jackson and he smirked. God, what am I doing!
The other boys smirked at Jackson as they pushed him towards me. "Follow me." I began walking to the sewers with Jackson behind me. Suddenly a strange scent filled the air. Fear. "Are you afraid of the sewers?" I smirked and I walked to the entrance.
He stood a few meters away from me. "No, of course not."
I channeled my charm-speak into my voice. "Then come here, now." I said and he immediately obliged and walked over to me. "Go inside. " I pointed to the sewers.
He walked a few meters in the sewer, then turned around and looked at me. Using my power over illusions, I made a fake gate appear, making it look like he was trapped inside the sewers. "What did you just do?!" He yelled as he banged on the bars.
"Nothing." My eyes flickered to yellow as my nails turned into claws. I reached through my illusion and slashed my claws across his chest and he yelled. Just then, Pennywise came out from around the corner and sank his teeth into Jackson's shoulder.
He yelled again and fell to the floor. I waved my hand and the illusions went away. "Good." Pennywise said as he dragged Jackson's body into the sewers and I followed him. He looked back at me and his face lit up.
"What?" I asked, confused. Pennywise handed me a broken mirror and I gasped. My face was pale, nearly white. Dark makeup surrounded my yellow eyes and dark red lines ran down my face from my eyes to my lips. The kinda subtle red streaks in my hair had become more noticeable; my hair was now fully 2 different colors, red and black. My lips were blood red. I ran my hand across my cheek, but the "makeup" didn't come off.
"I-I look like you..." My voice was barley audible.
"Like father like daughter..." He said. "Should I teach you how to control it?"
I nodded and he began to teach me. After a few minutes, I was able to switch from the clown-look to my normal look within seconds. I grinned and looked at the watch on my wrist.
"Oh god, I got to go!" I looked up at Pennywise.
"Come back soon Avira... I'll be waiting..." He said and pulled a ring out of his pocket and handed it to me. The gem in the center was blue, purple and red; the colors were swirled together like a galaxy.
I smiled and slipped the ring onto my finger. "Thanks." I said before i quickly ran out of the sewers.
The sun was setting in Derry as I found my bike and rode it back to my house. My mother was sitting on the couch watching TV.
"Where have you been?" She demanded, a cigarette in her hand.
I sighed and went to my room. "I was with Beverly... My friend.. We were at her house..." I called beind me.
I slammed the door and looked in the mirror. Slowly, the blue in my eyes faded and turned to yellow. The makeup/lines appeared on my face and my hair changed color. I opened my mouth and smiled in the mirror, noticing my fangs had appeared. I closed my eyes and opened them a minute later; I looked 'human' again. I guess now, I have 2 identities; Human-Avira and Demon-Avira.
From all the training earlier, i was exhausted. As I closed my eyes, I heard a soft voice whisper, "Goodnight Avira." I smiled slightly, reconizing the voice... and thats when i fell asleep.
The next day...
I woke up the next morning to someone banging on the front door. I sighed and got up, squinting from the bright light. I opened the front door to see Beverly. "Get dressed and get your bike."
"Well, hi to you too..." I mumbled, then said. "Fine, give me a minute." I walked back into my room and got dressed. The house was empty; my mother was at work. I met Bev outside and we rode our bikes to the Barrens where the rest of the Losers club was waiting. The boys were working on a dam that was in the small river. So far it was made of a few planks of wood.
But before anyone could say anything, I heard a voice behind me. "You. Avira." I turned around to see Josh and Ryan standing on the hill above us. "What happened to Jackson? He was with you... then he just disappeared..."
