~+Tord's P.O.V+~
I walked over to Edd's body and stopped for a second. I kissed his forehead and mumbled, "I'll never forget you or your beautiful smile.." After taking a deep breath, I ran out of the dorm, slamming the door behind me and running back down the stairs, almost tripping down the last flight.
As I ran off campus, I tried to remember the night when Edd and I had gone to Tom's party, and what streets we had taken. The mere thought of Edd made my stomach churn and my heart ache. I tried to ignore it.
I wanted my revenge. The memories hit me like a brick. I remembered where the nightclub had been. I ran out into the city, shoving people out of my way, ignoring their shouts. My mother taught me that there were moments in life where nothing mattered except your goal. She tried to teach me what it meant, and I never got it. But now, I knew exactly what she meant. I knew what she meant by your goal being what was fueling you. I knew what she meant by not having emotion. I knew what she meant by being a criminal drove you to extents that normal people wouldn't understand.
I stopped once I reached the nightclub, opening the doors and quickly slamming them behind me.
Nothing. It was all dark.
"Welcome, Tord," Tom's voice echoed. Blue and pink lights lit up the room, revealing Tom, who was standing on the opposite side of the room. He was dressed in a blue hoodie, his casual attire.
I took a few steps toward him, "What the fuck do you want?" I asked, harshly.
Tom took a few steps toward me, "To hurt you. Like you hurt me."
"I get it if you want to fight me, but bringing Edd into this was unnecessary!"
"Let's just settle this, alright?""
I nodded and the two of us slowly walked toward each other, eyes narrowed. The second we were close enough, I punched Tom in the jaw as hard as I could. He stumbled back and I stepped on his foot, pushing him over.
"I wish I had actually brought something to fight with so I could kill you already," I hissed, stepping on Tom's chest and holding him down. Tom grabbed my ankle, twisting it. I shrieked and jumped back, trying to ignore the pain in my foot as I set it back onto the ground.
Tom didn't hesitate to throw a punch at my nose, making my world temporarily blurry. I stumbled back, shaking my head to regain my vision. I was about to throw another punch whe Tom elbowed me in the nose, and a loud cracking noise echoed through the mostly empty and dark room. I managed to throw another punch, aiming for Tom's nose, but hitting his forehead. I threw a few more punches, aiming for his stomach. Everything was getting a bit blurry and hard to see, but I knew I managed to hit him a few times, at least, enough to get him almost as bad as me.
I felt I could have a possibility of winning if I could keep this up. If I could just continue to stay strong and let Tom fall and die...But my hope faltered as a sharp pain dug into my shoulder. I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply. My weakened body crashed onto the ground. I closed my eyes, trying to somehow gather any ounce strength I had left. A boot pressed against my chest, the heel pressing against my ribs. I started wheezing when the heel successfully cracked one of them.
This was it. I had failed. I'd never become the great and honored criminal my family wanted me to be...
I'd never live to be an adult.
I'd never live to be married.
I'd never live to have kids.
I'd never live to have someone tell my story.
I'd never live to avenge Edd.
"Any last words?" Tom quietly asked. I faintly heard sound of a gun being loaded. Metal was pressed up against my forehead.
A gun.
"I'm sorry..." I choked out, keeping my eyes closed, as if it would somehow get me out of this situation.
A gunshot.
Except... I wasn't dead.
I opened my eyes. Tom was no longer standing on top of me. Instead, another person stood about an inch away from where he had previously been.
"Edd-?"
"T-Tord...." Edd responded, smiling ever so slightly. He held his side, which was messily bandaged, which the bandage already falling off. Small trickles of blood were escaping his mouth. Seeing him closer up made me realize he had more injuries than his side. The front of his neck had a shallow, but long cut across it. His ear had a literal chunk ripped out of it, and something I didn't know how I had missed before was showing.
His eye was bleeding all over the place.
I was picked up off the ground by someone else. Upon looking at the ground, I saw Tom's body laying lifelessly on the floor, a bullet lodged into his head. I shuddered slightly, thinking of how that could've been me. I looked to see who had picked me up.
Edd's mother.
"E-Edd.. what happened..?"
Edd sighed weakly, struggling to speak, "I-I pretended I was dead a-and after Tom left, I c-called my mom.."
The sound of police sirens approaching made us all glance at the door. Edd's mom started walking toward the door as fast as she could.
"W-We can't leave Edd!" I yelled, coughing shortly after.
"I can't carry two people!" Edd's mother harshly replied. I looked over her shoulder to see that Edd had collapsed onto his hands and knees. At this point, the both of us knew he would probably bleed out if we left him.
"We have to take him somehow!" I protested, tears forming in my eyes as he got farther and farther away.
"This was his plan!" Edd's mom yelled as the sirens got closer. The two of us got closer to the back exit. I screamed and tried to escape her grip. She held onto me as tight as she could, trying to keep me from escaping.
Sirens.
Police officers.
My own voice screaming.
The back door opened.
"Edd!" I screeched, tears falling down my face. He managed turn around.
'I love you' He mouthed.
The back door was opened long enough to let me see the police officers kick open the front door.
