Some snow sank into the soles of your boots, to which you disregarded; you were already close to home. Stepping up on the porch, you stomped your boots off from the snow and wiped your feet on the welcome mat before unlocking the front door and letting yourself in.

"Papy, Sans. I'm home," you announced before noticing Sans sleeping his life away on the couch.

"AH, HUMAN! WELCOME HOME!" Papyrus replied, popping his head out from the kitchen doorway, "IF YOU ARE HUNGRY, I AM MAKING SOME SPAGHETTI FOR DINNER!"

"Thanks, Pap. But I'm not that hungry, I'm afraid. I grabbed a nicecream cone on the way here. If you don't mind, I'll just be in my room for the rest of the day. If you need me, you'll find me there." 'Why would either of them need me?'

"OH... ALRIGHT, HUMAN!"

You made your way up the stairs and isolated yourself in your room, gently shutting the door behind you. Throwing yourself on your bed, You took a deep breath, trying your best not to let tears flow; evidently failing.

Your pillowcase soon became soaked with your tears; your jaw ached from not letting any noises out. Making you flinch a bit, you hear a soft knock at your door. Wondering who it was, you wiped your eyes and walked to the door, putting your forehead on it.

"... Who is it?" you whispered.

"Human?" a familiar, muffled voice addressed on the other side.

You sighed, leaning against the door and sliding to the floor. "Papyrus... what is it?" you answered him, trying not to sound rude.

"Is everything alright? I noticed you weren't your usual happy self when you came in earlier. I want to make sure you're okay."

You felt another tear fall on your shirt and bowed your head. "Oh... I'm fine, Papy. Just tired, is all. Thanks for worrying about me but it was just a heck of a day, y'know?"

Papyrus stayed silent for a while, then sighed. "Human. Don't try and deter me. I can hear the tone of your voice; it sounds choked up. You're obviously not alright. Let me help you."

"I assure you, Papyrus. I'm alright. I don't need you on my back about my feelings all the time." You were starting to raise your voice. "Just leave me alone."

"No, _____. No matter how hard you try to push me away, I won't just leave you here to wallow in your own sadness."

You grumbled and shot up from your sitting position. "Papyrus!"

"I care about you too much to leave you like this! As my close friend... my family, I need to make sure I take extra care of you when you have negative feelings such as these."

You stopped, staring at the door blankly. Your anger soon subsided and you sighed. "Papy..."

"Please... open the door."

You hesitated while grazing your finger over the doorknob, thoughtlessly opening it to reveal Papyrus with small, orange tears pricking at the corners of his eye sockets.

He suddenly tackled you with a hug and started shivering. "Please...," he whimpered, "Always remember my brother and I will be here for you whenever you need us. We're family, right? And that's what family is here for." He pulled away from you and looked at you with a smile on his face.

You couldn't help but smile back and wipe the leftover tears from your eyes, pulling him back into a tighter hug. "...Yeah. Family..."
