A loud pounding on my door woke me up. I attempted to sit up, but my whole body felt like it had been hit by a truck. I finally reached a sitting position and looked around me. I had been laying in the middle of the floor, the little bit of floor you could see anyways. I had stuff spread around me and a suitcase laying open on the bed.

The loud pounding startled me again and I quickly got up to open the door. Right before I opened the door, it dawned on me that I must have fell asleep while packing last night. I quickly spun around and looked at the digital clock on the dresser. Five fifteen. The pounding came again followed by yelling.

"LANEY IF YOU DON'T OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW, I WILL BREAK IT DOWN!"

I quickly unlocked it and pulled it open. Chad stood with his fists clenched and a scowl on his face.

"WE WERE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE FIVE MINUTES AGO! WHAT IS GOING ON?!"

My throat was dry and I tried to speak but nothing came out. I wiped the sleep from my eyes and quickly tried to gather the things from the floor and throw them in the suitcase. I turned quickly and ran right into Chad. The force caused me to stumble back and I tripped over the straightener laying on the ground. I reached out and grabbed the bed just before I hit the ground.

"I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS! I HAVE TO GET TO THE AIRPORT OR I'M GOING TO MISS MY FLIGHT!"

Chad walked out of my room and slammed the door. I quickly started gathering the remainder of the things I needed. I hoped that if I forgot anything, Christie, Chad's sister, would be willing to bring me back to get it. Probably not, but maybe.

I ran into the bathroom while trying to pull a pair of sweats over my night shorts. I grabbed a hair tie from the drawer and began gathering my hair into a ponytail. I tightened the ponytail just as I heard a door slam. I slipped on a pair of TOMS and grabbed my suitcase. The suitcase clattered down the stairs behind me as I took each stair as quick as I could.

Just as I reached the bottom step, I heard the car start. The garage door sound came next and I grabbed my coat from the closet. As I was zipping it up I looked out the sitting room window and my eyes widened.

My feet led me closer to the window and I leaned my cheek against it as I looked down the road. The silver car was driving away. Chad's car was driving away...and I wasn't in it.

I felt my phone buzz from the pocket of my sweats. I struggled to get it out, but when I did I clicked the box notifying me of a new message.

I can't always be waiting on you! I will be sending my mother or sister to pick you up as soon as they call me back. Don't try anything funny. You nearly cost me my job.

It had been two hours since Chad left without me and I was still sitting in the recliner in the sitting room. I now had a cup of coffee and I was watching The 12 Dates of Christmas on tv. I loved all the holiday shows that get played at this time of year.

I realized that Chad wasn't coming back after about thirty minutes from the time he left. I knew his plane was boarding and leaving around six. As the minutes ticked by, I experienced a multitude of emotions. Some happy about the fact Chad had left me here and I didn't have to go on that awful trip with him. Others were fearful. Fearful of the fact that if Chad did come back he would be in a terrible mood, or when he does come back I guess. It wouldn't matter if he came back today or in two weeks, he is still going to be in an awful mood.

The movie ended and I decided I better go and make sure I had everything packed. Now that I had a little extra time, I could gather anything I possibly could have forgotten this morning. I turned some music on and gathered some clothes so I could go take a shower.
