*Chad's POV*

"Yes that's correct officer. And then when I tried to calm her down and get the gun from her, she pulled the trigger. Thank goodness her aim was bad for my sake." I motioned towards my arm that was bandaged up and placed in a sling, resting gently against my chest.

The officer looked down at me in my hospital bed. It had been three days since Laney left and after a surgery on my arm and lots of questions from officers, they still hadn't found her. The doctor walked in and handed me some papers.

"Okay Chad, you're ready to go as soon as your ride gets here. I just need you to sign here and here, so we have record that you were given discharge instructions and you agreed with them."

I took the pen from his hand and signed my name. I handed the papers back to the doctor and he told me to get better and he would see me in a week to check up on the wound. I politely said goodbye and turned my attention back to the officer.

"Well, we will keep searching for her. If you get any new information at all, please give us a call. Even the smallest of things could lead us to where she is."

"Thanks Officer Johnson. You're a good man." He shook my hand and said goodbye before leaving the hospital room.

Officer Johnson had been on the case from the start, he was the one that showed up at my house that night.

**FLASHBACK**

The world was spinning as I stubbled down the driveway. Where did that little bitch go? I looked around but it was completely dark. I tripped over my own feet and fell to the ground. Something cold and wet was soaking my clothes. I laid there, trying to clear my mind, trying to figure out where she was at. The cold that surrounded me cleared my head a bit and I my thoughts weren't as fuzzy.

I deserve someone better than her. She's a worthless piece of shit. I can't believe I let my mom talk me into marrying her. She doesn't respect me or treat me like a husband. Worthless. She's completely worthless.

I heard something in the bushes near the side of the house. I someone got myself back on my feet and stumbled towards the noise.

"I've got you now!"

I tightened my finger on the trigger and pulled it just as I over something. I felt the pain shoot through my arm seconds later. A loud scream left my mouth as I dropped the gun. I felt the warm liquid covering my arm.

I reached around for something anything. I felt something vibrate in my pocket and it reminded me I had my phone. I pulled it out and struggled to dial with one hand.

9-1-1

"9-1-1 what is your emergency?"

My breathing was in short gasps and I struggled to get the words out.

"Gun. Arm. Blood. I-i-i."

"I'm sorry I can't understand what you are saying."
