[Arabella]
Early in the morning, after getting breakfast, I made my way back to Sorority Row and ran up the stairs to the front door of Kappa Delta. I unlocked the door and ran up to my room to put away my small black clutch. I threw the clutch on my bed and checked the time since I had Italian that morning. I looked in the mirror and grabbed my backpack and the UCLA map. With twenty minutes to get across campus and to the right class, I walked outside to Sorority Row. I crossed the street and made my way into the city of a campus.
I looked at the map and finally found the classroom. I took a seat at the very back of the room and waited for class to begin. Of course, it being Italian, I realized it would be fairly easy for me. Literature, language, film, and culture. I decided it would be an easy A and I could learn more about my heritage. I took notes as quickly as I could and closed my notebook that I had personalized to look like an Italian flag. I stuffed it into my light blue backpack and walked out of class.
"Kappa Delta!" I heard a familiar voice yell as I walked into the hallway, "I knew that was you."
"Beta Theta Pi." I smiled, "What are you doing here?"
"Italy is a place I've always wanted to go to." he shrugged, "I thought maybe teaching math there would be cool. Or just learning about Italy."
"I haven't been there since I was three," I shrugged, "I hardly remember it."
His eyes widened, "You've been there?"
"Just Florence. No big deal." I said, walking out Royce Hall.
"No big deal? It's Italy!" He exclaimed, following me. I shook my head as we passed the Shapiro Fountain.
"So, uh, do you have a, um, phone?" Luke asked. I laughed.
"Do I have a phone? No." I remarked sarcastically, taking out my pen and taking his arm. I stopped to write down my number on his forearm and my initials.
"What's your last name?"
"Ambrosia." I said. He took my arm and lifted up the sleeve of my jacket and wrote his number along with his initals.
"H.?" I asked
"Hemmings." he smiled, returning my pen, "I should have written my fraternity though."
I wrote the greek letters kappa and delta on his arm, "I think if you did, my best friends would freak."
"Why?" he said, taking the pen and writing beta, theta, and pi on my arm.
"My friends think all of you guys are assholes. I don't get it." I laughed, taking my pen back and putting down the sleeve of my jacket. As we passed the Powell Library, I noticed a familiar green car across the street. I looked closer and saw Pandora standing next to Fletcher who was ready to get in a fist fight with another boy.
"Oh my God, Pandora and Fletcher..." I muttered, starting for the street.
"Calum." Luke muttered, doing the same. The tall boy with dark hair started for Fletcher and Fletcher seemed to go for the boy, but Pandora was holding him back. She was no use, so I ran in and grabbed his other arm as Luke nearly tackled the boy.
"Calum, calm your shit!" Luke yelled as the boy pulled toward Fletcher.
"That's your Beta Boy?" Fletcher growled, motioning to Luke.
"I, uh, I'm so sorry. I'm going to take him back to the frat." Luke mumbled, pulling him away.
"Yeah, that's her Beta Boy, and he's gonna fuck your friend better than any of your Sigmas could just like I'll take your girl!" Calum yelled over his shoulder.
"Calum!" he yelled, "I'm sorry!"
"What the hell was that?" I asked when they were far enough.
"We could ask the same." Pandora said, turning to me and crossing her arms.
I rolled my eyes, "Okay if it weren't for my 'Beta Boy' who knows how Fletcher would be. Did you see that guy?"
"Oh don't defend your boyfriend's friend." Fletcher said, "I could have easily taken that guy."
"He's not my boyfriend!"
"Sure." Pandora spat, going into Fletcher's car. I, of course, was not invited for a car ride home.
"Are you guys really upset that I'm friends with a Beta?" I yelled, throwing my hands in the air. They slammed the door and drove off.
I had no other choice but to walk back to Sorority Row.
I walked around for a while until I got lost around the inverted fountain and the music center. I looked at the map and figured I was going more towards Frat Row. I saw a familiar looking guy wearing a bandana making his way to a car.
"Hey, um, I kind of walked, do you mind giving me a ride?"
"Oh hey, you're a Kappa Delta, right?" he said, smiling and showing off his perfect dimples.
"Yeah, Arabella Amrosia." I said, putting out my hand.
He shook my hand and smiled, "Ashton Irwin, Beta Theta Pi. What's a freshman Kappa Delta like you doing all alone here?"
"Fight with friends." I sighed
"You're friends with a Sigma aren't you?"
"If by Sigma you mean Fletcher, yeah."
"Yeah, I think that's him in one of my classes, but anyway, let's get you back."
"Thank you so much." I said as he opened the car door for me. I got inside the car and he drove me to my sorority.
"So, Friday a couple of the Betas and I are going to Santa Monica. You in?" he asked as I got out the door.
"I might be." I said, looking into the window, "Is it okay if I tell B-... Luke if I can go, or is he not...?"
"Oh, you're Hemmo's girl?" he asked as if he didn't want to get into a fellow Beta's girlfriend.
"We, uh, aren't a thing. I kinda just met him." I blushed.
"No worries," he smiled, "You can tell him and we'll take you."
"Thanks!" I smiled, walking up the stairs and to the door, "And thanks for the ride!"
"No problem!" He smiled, driving off as I walked inside.
