Books I'll (Probably) Never Write

Excert 1

The world did not end in a bang, or a whisper, but rather, one scream at a time.

I had watched all my friends in the orphanage die one by one as their screams echoed down the narrow halls. I myself screamed, not of the disease but of the end.

It's quite funny that i'm the only one to have survived. I was the dirtiest of all the other kids. I played and made mud pies, i skipped showers and baths, i ate with my hands and for that, ME of all people, managed to survive.

The disease didn't take over fast like everyone would of thought. When the disease first started, no one made a big deal out if it, as it first started in africa. Ebola was a huge news but never came to america nor other parts of the world, therfore people took less caution with the newly found disease. But then one by one, people started to drop dead. Their screams would echo on every street in every corner.

I once saw one of my bestest of friends die as the disease took over him.

In the first day, his gums started bleeding and his teeth started to hurt as they turned a slight brown. At first the nuns thought he had a cavity.

On the second day...

He started screaming.

"It burns!! It burrrns!!!," he would scream

The nuns tried to restrain him, as did i.

"It's okay Richard. It's going to be okay.," i would plea with him

On the third day...

His skin started melting off, as if acid was being thrown at him. He screamed all throught the day and night. I was by his side, always.

On the sixth day, everything was worse than ever.

He barely had skin to covor his bones that you could actually see. One of his eyes popped out of its socket. He was frail and thin and bald as his hair had fallen off.

We both screamed that day.

He was lucky and unlucky to have survived for this long. On his last day, we spent time together, saying our goodbyes.

He died.
He was the only person that i know who didn't scream as he died.
He died.
In my arms.
He died.
As i cried.
