The game resumed in Kaijo's favour, with Kise scoring one basket after another, using his Perfect Copy to mimic the moves of the other members of the Generation of Miracles. From Aomine's formless shot to Akashi's Ankle-Break Dribble, Midorima's High-Projectile Three, and even Murasakibara's Thor's Hammer. Though Kagami did his best to block them, he was overpowered by Kise. With less than seven minutes left, Kaijo was ahead of Seirin by thirteen points.
'It's like the Generation of Miracles all at once.' thought Kagami while panting heavily. 'This sucks. I can't get a handle on this! And it's three minutes in? Considering how long the Perfect Copy lasts, I gotta deal with this for at least two more minutes?'
Kise was also panting heavily, exhausting himself from the moves that he had to use from the start of the game. "Man, this is rough." he said after catching his breath. "For now, I'll take a break. Copying those guys is pretty rough after all. I can't really collapse so soon into the game. We still got most of the game to play, so I gotta save the fun part for later. But well, that served its purpose plenty." He looked up at his opponents and gave them a mocking smile. "We have the initiative now."
"This is the worst!" growled Hyuga, who was as angry as his teammates.
"Oh man, they really got it handed to them from the start." said Murasakibara. "But you know..." Himuro and Giichi looked at him when he trailed off. "It's true Kise-chin's Perfect Copy is amazing. But even if he uses it at the end, it's down to two minutes. And honestly, it'll happen sooner or later, right?"
"No, it's not that simple." answered Giichi, getting the boys' attention. "Any given game has momentum. Their surprise tactic worked, and its effects will linger. That's what Kaijo was truly after, I believe."
Hyuga made the shot, but the ball bounced off the rim. 'Damn, just when every second counts in closing the gap.' he thought. Hayakawa beat Kiyoshi in getting the rebound, and they began running towards the other side of the court.
"Don't mind it, Hyuga!" said Izuki as he and his teammates went to defend.
"Yeah." he said. The girls on the bench were staring at their teammates intensely, seeing the effect of Kise's Perfect Copy on them.
"Kagami!" called Izuki before passing the ball to him. Kagami drove past Kise and made a shot, but missed, surprising him.
"Consecutive missed shots." noted Himuro.
"So this is what you were talking about, Gii-chin." said Murasakibara, who understood when the said man mentioned about the effects of Kaijo's surprise attack.
"Yeah." said the latter. "They've gotten totally restless. I'm guessing Seirin wanted an early lead to run with. But they fell victim to a surprise attack. Not only did they fail to get ahead, they're far behind. They want to close the gap right away. But being too eager makes their attacks too simple and causes mistakes. At this rate, their attacks will continue to go nowhere."
Yasu was thinking the same thing as what Giichi told the other two who were with him, and turned to look a the coach, who gave her a knowing look. "Change members." said Riko. "Furihata-kun. You're up." The said boy snapped his head at her, and pointed at himself while looking horrified. While she went off to the panel to request for a member change, Yasu accompanied the nervous boy to the side with his hand in hers while she used her free hand to gently rub his back, feeling the tenseness in him. Kise noticed this, and stared at them with an unreadable expression.
"Calm down, Furihata." she said with an encouraging smile. "You can do this!"
"I know." he said, taking deep breaths while waiting for his turn to be called. "Um, when I'm out there, what should I do?"
