黒子 テツヤ (Kuroko Tetsuya)
Few weeks had passed since the Winter Cup Tournament. Yasu was walking home with Kuroko, Kagami and Nigou. "Ah, right." said Kagami when he remembered something. "Are you free on the 31st?"
"31st?" repeated Kuroko. "Yes, I am free on that day."
"That's great!" said Kagami with relief. "Because-" Before he could continue, he was interrupted by Kuroko's phone ringing, causing them to halt in their tracks.
"Excuse me." said Kuroko before answering the call. "Yes? This is Kuroko." The caller turned out to be Momoi, and she seemed to have asked him the same question, due to his same reply to Kagami's question, surprising the latter. Kuroko then looked excited about something Momoi had said, as he said, "Yes, I will look forward to it! I will let Yasu-san know about it."
"What?" asked Kagami when Kuroko hung up. "What's going on?"
"It seems all of the Teiko Basketball Club members are going to gather and play street basketball." replied the latter before turning to the manager. "And Yasu-san is invited, too. Would you like to come?"
"Sure." she said with a smile. "I think it's a nice reunion after so long." Her smile faltered when her gaze landed on Kagami, and said, "But isn't that also on the 31st? What to do?"
"Now that you mention it, Kagami-kun also mentioned about the 31st." said Kuroko.
"Well, actually we were planning on doing something on that day as well." explained Kagami.
"What is that plan?" asked his partner.
"Your birthday party." replied Yasu. "The first-years are going to gather and enjoy ourselves together. We might even invite the upperclassmen to join us as well."
"Really?" asked Kuroko excitedly, earning a nod from her and Kagami each. "But what should I do? I've already promised to go to their gathering with Yasu-san."
"You both should go." assured Kagami with a smile. "You don't get much chances like this. We can start the party during the evening after you finish."
"Yes!" said Kuroko happily. "Thank you. I'm very happy."
"It's not much really." said Kagami. "It's only a birthday party."
"Because Yasu-san is the only person who hasn't forgotten about me in 364 days of the entire year." added Kuroko bluntly.
The said girl and Kagami blinked owlishly at him. "You really have a tough time, even when under the shadows, huh?" they muttered with pity.

On the day of the gathering with her friends, Yasu woke up earlier to bake a big vanilla cake with the wordings "Happy birthday, Kuroko!" written on top with chocolate icing. When she was done, she changed into her casual attire before going to Kagami's place to drop off the cake.
"Wow, this is huge!" commented Kagami when he held the box.
"I'm sorry for not telling you its size." said Yasu guiltily as she followed him to his refrigerator.
"Nah, it's alright." he assured while opening the refrigerator door to put in the cake. "I've cleared up some space to cook something for tonight's party."
"Do you need me to pick up something on the way?" she asked.
"Nope, it's alright." he replied reassuringly while closing the refrigerator door, and looked at her with a smile. "Go and enjoy yourself with your friends."
Yasu glanced at her wristwatch and looked surprised by the time. "Oh, no!" she said before rushing to the door. "I'm going to be late! See you later, Kagami!"
