Chapter 1

Arrghh!! Arrgghh!! Arrghh!!, what in the world is that!! I looked to my left realizing that it was just my stupid alarm, groaning I turned it off and got out of bed.

I so wanted to stay in bed but knowing my mom would never let me, in my zombie walking state I made it to the bathroom and began my daily routine.

I spent 15 minutes in there before heading into my closet where I found a simple blouse and a pair of jeans.

After getting dressed I went down the stairs and immediately the aroma of fried bacon and french toast assaulted my nostrils, "Good morning Mom!!" I said,

While looking around for my dad and brother but didn't see them so I assumed they were still sleeping.

"Good morning sweetie, come and eat, I made your favorite", my mom said.

"What's the special occasion because you don't normally make breakfast," I said but she only responded with a nervous laugh and a slight wave of the hand, weird but I said nothing more.

By the time I was finished it was already 8:30 which meant I had 20 minutes to get to school.

I went upstairs for my things and came back down mom surprised me even more by giving me lunch.

"Here you go kiddo have a great day at school, I love you," she said with moisture gracing her eyes.

"Ok, mom what's really going on? I appreciate you being nice and all but you're kinda creeping me out..." I said and once again she rewarded me with a small laugh, I sighed and went through the door.

I was 10 minutes late, I pushed the heavy school doors open and headed to my locker.

I took out my necessary books and made my way to class.

When I entered my professor wasn't there as yet and I was grateful for that. 5 minutes passed when my professor finally arrived.

"Good morning everyone, " He said,

"Good morning professor" We all replied.

He popped open his lecture notes and started reading, the class passed by in a blur, and soon enough it was the end of class.

I made my way into the hallways where I met my best friend.

"Heeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyy" she always prolongs the 'hey' for some reason.

"Hi Anna," I said

"Doctor Kill Joy," Anna said while scrunching up her face, I laughed and pulled her to our next class.

I and Anna had been best friends since diaper days and will forever be best friends.

We entered the class and made our way to the back, as soon as I took my seat my head made contact with the desk and that was it until 12:30 when the bell rang which signified that it was the end of the class.

I hurriedly grabbed Anna's hand and ran out of the class.

"Really?? Do you have to be such a Drama Queen?" Anna asked, I scoffed since she's one to call me a 'Drama Queen'.

The rest of the day ran out pretty fast and it was now home time, I was planning on staying with Anna tonight but I got a text from my mom saying I should come home.

I sighed and made plans with Anna to meet up tomorrow before I made my way home.

15 minutes Later

I finally got home and opened the door and went in, the first thing that greeted me was the sweet smell of pot roast.

I made my way into the living room but stopped right in my tracks when I saw 4 men in suits standing while another was sitting on the couch, he gave off a cold and dominant aura that sent chills down my spine, his grey eyes were live daggers.

"Mom?" I called out and I heard a faint 'in here' which meant she was in the kitchen.

I quickly made my way there but couldn't shake the feeling of someone's eyes burning holes in my back.

"Mom, who are those men in the living room?"

"Well hello to you too," My mom said in a sarcastic tone.

"Really mom there are 5 scary-looking men in our living room and you have time for sarcasm? " I said giving her a wary look.

"I was just trying to lighten the mood sweetie, anyways those men are some of your fathers' business partners," She said while clearing her throat to hide the crack in her voice but I decided not to say anything about it.

"Ok" is all I said and started to walk away.

"Wait Hunnie! Go and wash up and put on something nice, dinner is almost ready" Mom said.

"Ok mom," I said and left, I passed through the living room and immediately my eyes made contact with a set of grey ones, he's handsome and looks hot I thought.

I felt eyes glaring at me and realized that one of the other men was glaring daggers in my direction.

I ran up the stairs and headed to my room and straight to my bathroom. I took a quick shower and came out and went to my closet, I decided on wearing a white sundress with flats.

I curled my hair into soft curls and added minimal makeup, as soon as I finished I heard mom calling.

I went downstairs and into the dining room which was deadly quiet, the grey-eyed stranger pulled out my chair for me.

"Thank you" I mumbled softly to which he only nodded. Food was dished on everyone's plate and we started eating.

"So kiddo how was your day?" My dad asked breaking the silence.

"It was ok dad, Anna and I are going shopping tomorrow for graduation", I said and immediately sensed tension at the table.

My mom cleared her throat and made quick eye contact with dad before her head fell.

My dad sighed dad while my brother looked confused as to what was going on, that makes the two of us big bro, I thought as I just sat there.
