Ever since the school shooting in FL a month ago today, we've discussed what they should do if something like this happened in their schools. Their schools are directly next to each other so it'd be possible for something like this to affect both schools. I was surprised at the stance both of them have taken about gun violence in schools and safety in schools. I've already made it known that it terrifies me to send my daughter to school and to see my cousin go off to school...especially since there was a threat at my daughter's school two wks ago and a total school lockdown with cops all over campus the next day. Well, I gave my daughter permission to participate in anything she felt strongly about and believed in, no matter the consequences on the school's behalf.
Last night I got an automated phone call from the school board saying that they were aware of today being the day that a national walk out was planned and that they couldn't agree or disagree with any students and/or teachers decisions to participate, buy there would be no repercussions if anyone chose to do it.
Well both my daughter and my cousin chose to participate in today's walk out. If I wouldn't have had to work I would've been there with both of them. I have to say that I am so super proud of them for following their hearts!!! Makes me think I'm not that bad of a mom or cousin after all ☺😊

She text me back and said her and like five of her friends had decided to do it. Afterwards she text me and said there were A LOT of students AND teachers from both schools that did it. That's awesome!!! I just hope all of the students knew what they were representing and didn't just do it to get out of class...altho I'm sure some did it for that reason 😒
Anyway...here's some advice I gave both of them: Always stand up for what you believe in and what touches your soul! 💚💙💛❤
