It's back again. Just go read the description of my first "Randomness of the Queen" book because I don't feel like typing it all again.

If you happen to be one of the ppl following the situation with my mom I decided to give an update. However, cause there are "new" ppl who may not be sure wtf I'm talking about I'll just start at the beginning.
First of all I should make y'all aware that my mom is terminally ill (End Stage Renal and Liver Failure) and has been bed bound for almost 3 yrs. She's been on O2 all the time (24/7/365) for about 5 to 6 yrs now. She's been on dialysis since 2010 which is normally a 3 day a wk thing, but for the past few yrs she's been a 4 day a wk patient with each treatment being about 5 hrs long. Now, my mom has a multitude of other health issues that have stemmed from her disease. As of last yr her kidneys and liver are completely done...like they don't work at all anymore. And no, she's not a candidate for any transplants.
Now for the synopsis/update...
This Fri will be 6 wks that my mom has been in the ICU. For a majority of the time she's been on life support. Two wks into her stint in the ICU the drs told us they didn't expect her to survive...she was 100% on life support, on 24/7 dialysis, had a feeding tube thru her nose giving her body continuous nourishment, and numerous IVs and such in her body...and even tho there was still brain activity there was nothing to show that she'd ever wake up or live if life support was shut off. A day later a DNR was put in place...it still is in place. Well, about 2 1/2 wks ago she opened her eyes. It freaked everyone out tbh. Even tho she opened her eyes there didn't seem to be any recognition, she never focused on anything, it was just like a blankness. She was still intubated on the ventilator 100%, three IV meds regulating her bp, 24/7 dialysis, and the feeding tube. Then about 1 1/2 wks ago there was recognition in eyes, then the next day she started mouthing words, then the next day she smiled...the ventilator was moved to 60% and she was down to two IV bp meds but still had the feeding tube and 24/7 dialysis. Well she had to have a procedure done kinda on an emergent basis and that night she took a turn for the worse. Her bp dropped, she spiked a fever, and the ventilator had to be turned back up...plus she wouldn't open her eyes or make any movement to let us know she was still "there". Two days passed and she was awake and more alert than she'd been. She was put down to 1 IV bp med and the ventilator was put down to 50%. The drs decided that they wanted to perform a tracheotomy and have the ventilator attached to that so she could have the incubation tube removed and hopefully start talking again (eventually). That surgery was the end of last wk. It was successful but that night she spiked a fever again and the next day was pretty much unconscious all day. On Sat she woke up, looked at me, smiled big, and mouthed "I love you". Then on Sun she attempted to write

Don't really know what she was attempting to write but I think it may have been my daughter's name cause my mom pointed at the pic of her that is in her hospital rm. My daughter was in the waiting rm so I went out and got her and when my mom saw her she smiled bigger than I'd seen this whole time. Welp she had a small procedure yesterday and today (Tues) she had a procedure to have feeding tube put in her belly so the tube in her mouth (it was removed from her nose and replaced thru her mouth whenever they did the tracheotomy). Ofc she started running a fever and was completely out of it (partially due to the sedation they put her on for the procedure). Tonight she's opening her eyes a bit but only for a few secs. She did nod her head once tho when I asked her if she could hear her music (we've been playing oldies thru a music station on the TV continuously for her cause she loves music and oldies and we all know music is great therapy).
