"I'm turning into a monster, you'd better run and hide, turning into a monster right before your eyes"

PRESENT DAY

Victoria sighed in annoyance. This was the fifth planet she'd been to in search of the Falcon.

She hadn't spoken to Han in a while, and in truth, she was hoping that giving the Millennium Falcon back to him would spark communication between them once more.

He's the closest thing to a father I have ever had...

It wasn't here though. Climbing on board her ship with C-3PO trailing behind her, she looked at her list of possible places where the Falcon could be.

"Up next, Jakku." Victoria muttered as she ran a hand through her hair and turned to C-3PO who then proceeded to give her a list of all the things that could possibly go wrong, as if she hadn't thought of them herself.

21 ABY

Ben watched Victoria admiringly as she scribbled in her journal. Sensing his gaze, she turned to look at him. "What do you think you're looking at?" She inquired.

Ben snickered. "An angel." He said, giving her a cheeky smile.

Victoria burst out laughing, throwing her head back. He simply stared at her in admiration.

Even a blind man could see that these two young teenagers had started to fall for each other.

With Victoria being fourteen and Ben being sixteen, them feeling romantic attraction was quite inevitable.

Despite a slightly rocky beginning, they had an amazing friendship. One that Victoria would often say that people would write stories about, like the ones she loves to read.

Ben would only smile in response. What could he possibly say to that, when the very idea of it made him overwhelmed with a sense of happiness.

Although they had seemingly fantastic chemistry, they each refused to admit their feelings to themselves and most certainly not to each other.

But they were still together and that's all that truly mattered in their eyes.

Victoria and Ben. Ben and Victoria.

It had been that way for nearly a decade, and nobody seemed to mind.

The other kids also understood that Ben and Victoria had a bond. If you hurt Victoria in any way, Ben would lose his mind. And if you hurt Ben in any way, Victoria would go to the ends of the galaxy to defend him.

It was simply an unspoken rule that everyone seemed to understand.

Victoria gave him a wide grin and kissed his cheek.

She returned to writing in her journal, bending over the book as she wrote, her hair turning into a curtain, separating her from the world.

Ben smiled softly as a blush creeped to cheeks and he rubbed the spot where she kissed.

It was comical, really, that neither of them were aware of the other's feelings. Or their own, for that matter.
