"I like your soul when it's shirtless, cause it's just like mine"

22 ABY

Victoria let out an overdramatic huff as she marched into Ben's hut. Chuckling at her behavior, he wordlessly patted on the area next to him on the bed for her to sit.

Rolling her eyes, she obliged. Ben let out another chuckle and turned to her. "Hm. Tell me what Will did this time." She let out a laugh. "I love how you immediately assumed it was him."

"Oh? And you mean to tell me it isn't?" He said, jokingly arching an eyebrow.

She gave him a loop-sided grin. "Of course it is. Who else?"

Ben nodded. "So, what is it?"

"He's spreading ridiculous rumors. Rumors he completely made up and it's so annoying." She said, shaking her head. "I don't know what to do with him anymore."

Ben's curiosity peaked. "Victoria, I swear if he's spreading lies about you-" She immediately cut him off. "No, no! He isn't. The rumors are actually about... well, you."

Perplexed, he asked, "Me?" She nodded. "Mhm. He's saying you have a silly crush on me or something."

Ben stared at her for a moment before giving her a forced grin. "That's so stupid. Why would he say that?" Victoria gave him a sideways glance before saying, "Yeah, I know."

"I mean, pfft. Why would I even like you like that? We're best friends. You're like a sister to me. So me liking you would basically be disgusting." Ben rambled nervously.

It felt like her stomach dropped and she did her best to hide her grimace. "Right... disgusting." She almost felt tears forming, but looked up at the ceiling to prevent them from ever falling down. "Yeah. It's such a ridiculous thought that I don't even know how he came up with such a lie."

Ben nodded hesitantly. "Yeah. What a liar."

"Yeah."

A tense moment of silence past, where neither one of them said a thing.

Ben contemplated telling her that it wasn't a lie. Telling her that he's madly in love with her despite the fact that it's against Jedi law.

He felt like he just wanted to reach over and kiss her, forgetting about Luke and the Jedi and Will. Forgetting everything everything except her.

And Victoria wondered if she should tell him that she had secretly hoped it was true. Hoped that her feelings were reciprocated. But no. Apparently, they were not.

"Well," Victoria said abruptly, startling Ben. "I came here to just tell you about it. Glad to know it isn't true though. Now, if you'll excuse me. I have a lesson with Luke to go to."

And just like that, she left the room. Ben stared at the door for a while, feeling like he was in a daze. Was she... upset? No, no. That couldn't be.

It couldn't.

Victoria casually walked into her hut, closing the door behind her. She's almost immediately already lying on her bed, silent tears running down the side of her face.

Of course. I'm such an idiot. Why would he even have feelings for me? I'm his best friend. He would never see me that way.

Her tears started falling more rapidly.

Who would fall in love with someone who cries all the time over something that happened so long ago? Who would love someone who can barely sleep at night? Who would love someone who's a burden?

She fell asleep crying that night. Crying over the boy would sacrifice everything for her.

Victoria kissed him again passionately as he pushed her onto the bed. "I love you so much." He murmured in her ear. She gave him a sly smile. "I love you too."

They quickly resumed making out, more and more articles of clothing fall to the ground. His kisses trailed from her lips down to her jaw, then her neck, slowly and agonizingly going further down.

The sounds Victoria was making only urged him on more. He wanted every kiss he gave her to be one to remember, one she'd relish in-

Ben woke up with a start, his breathing heavy and ragged. It took him a minute to realize that it was a dream. That he was, in fact, alone in his bed as he assumed Victoria was in hers.

That... no. He shouldn't have dreamt that. He shouldn't want that. His heart raced as he thought of the contents of his dream and how blissfully perfect it was. He wanted it so bad.

But he couldn't have it, it was wrong of him to think that way of Victoria. Especially since Luke could probably sense his emotions.

It was so wrong, but it felt amazing. It felt like the most divine thing he could ever wish for.

But it was just a dream, and he would have to live with that.
