Part Twenty Four (Harry)
Never have I ever expected all of this to happen and on such short notice. Between the house and my family issues, I never would have expected to end up here, with Lou, in his house, but I'm not complaining. I couldn't think of a way to express my gratitude to him because what can you actually say in a situation like this? 'Thank you' just doesn't cut it. This warm and inviting feeling had settled in the pit of my stomach and all I wanted to do was share it with Louis but he didn't seem to be on the same page as me this morning.
We walked to school in silence which was odd because Lou always had something to say whether it be minor or major; when he talked, I listened but that wasn't the case today. The only reason for his quietness had to be that he was thinking about something. I studied his face seeing him knot his eyebrows together with a permanent frown etched into his perfect lips. The more I asked him about it, the more he pushed it away. He was deep in thought and it could only be about one thing.
"Is it Liam?" I move closer to him, wanting to hold his hand but because I didn't want to cause attention to us to I decided against it.
"No...well..."
"Lou, It'll be okay. Listen to me, alright? You don't need to worry about Liam. He's not going to do anything to you, alright? I'll make sure of it."
With that promise, I pulled him close telling him words that came from my heart. I led him into the school, making our way through the crowded halls before we ended up at his locker. He still looked a little uneasy as he began rummaging for his things. I glanced down at my watch and noticed we only had a little time before the bell would ring signalling first period.
"Hey," I whispered, "I've got to get going, but I have my phone okay?" I ducked my head down to be closer to his as he blushed. Electricity surged through my body while a small smile found it's way onto my face.
"Are we meeting after class again?"
I nodded before decreasing the space between us. He smelled like peppermint and Axe cologne. I loved the mixture of smells and as it floated to my nostrils, I instantly became intoxicated. I remind him to let me know if he needs anything and to tell me if Liam starts to bother him before taking in my surroundings to make sure no one was watching us.
Quickly, I pressed a soft kiss on his cheek which only caused the blush on cheeks to darken.
"See you later," I say before walking away. I hoist my backpack further up my shoulder letting the thoughts of last night take over me. How did everything work out so well as it did? My family and I have somewhere to live for the time being. I'm closer to Lou. I'm actually...happy. And I haven't been this happy in awhile and I had Louis to thank for that.
I smile at the ground thinking of him and us and where we will go from here when I'm nudged in the shoulder. I turn around quickly just as my curls fall in my face. I quickly brush them to the side to reveal my friend Barrett. Barrett has been a friend of mine ever since secondary school. He was really down to earth and carefree. He didn't take crap from anyone and he always spoke his mind. I hadn't seem him yesterday because of Lou's incident but I did see his name of the roster for my first period class so that was always good. He's an awesome friend and I now regret not seeing him much this summer.
"Styles! It's been ages! How was your summer, mate?" He says offering me a toothy smile.
