Chapter 20: Foreboding

I grinned at the boys and tilted my head, still waiting for them to take my hand

"P-Pardon?" Norman stuttered, looking like he was a few seconds from having a heart attack "C-Can y-you repeat what you just said, your Highness?"

I smiled at them "I said, are you willing to come with me to earth to fight by my side, fighting for our cause"

The arena was silent, all waiting for the answer of the two boys

The soldiers were looking at the two new recruits with furrowed brows and a slight frown on their mouths. Their eyes held surprise; a slight envy and jealousy of the two new kids that got my attention

"W-we would l-love to, your Highness" Clause answered, still looking like he can't believe what's happening at the moment is real

I beamed at them and slung my arms over their shoulders, tugging them closer to me and smiling at them "Welcome aboard then"

The two boys were staring at the arms slung over their shoulders with wide eyes, then they slowly looked up at me. I raised a brow at them when they just continued gaping at me "You have something you want to say...?"

Norman snapped out of his daze and did his best to straighten his posture as much as possible with my arms slung over his shoulders "Please take care of me!!"

He bowed so abruptly that if I didn't have fast reflexes then I would have been sporting a bruise on my chin with the force of his bow. I felt the wind whipping past my face when his head wheeze past me.

I patted him on the shoulder and grinned at him "No need to be so formal, kid. Calling me by name should suffice"

The boy looked so overwhelmed and I decided to cut the both of them some slack by stepping back and motioning for them to come with me "Come on"

I looked at the remaining soldier who were trying to keep the scowl off their faces as they stared at the boys behind me.

I smiled at them "For all the remaining ones here, please do not think of you as lacking or incompetent because I had not chosen you in favour of this two boys. You all are wonderful men. I might not have chosen you today, but that does not mean that you are inferior or lacking. I simply met these boys by chance and they had managed to spark my interest. Do not feel discouraged of this, and continue your training. I will be back, and hopefully some of you will be willing to come with me the next time I offer you a chance of training under me."

I smiled and the soldiers straightened and saluted to me; eyes glinting with determination.

"Yes, sir!!"

I grinned and clapped my hands together "Good. Now I best be going. Boys come with me"

The two teens followed me with flustered steps. Norman and Clause was muttering to each other, hands flying everywhere as they gestured wildly about something while pointing at my back every once in a while. I suppressed a snort. They were obviously talking about me, but they must be thinking that I can't hear what they were saying; the gestures towards me were not helping either.
