Survive ❦ Namjoon

6 | 2 Months Later

"Guys, this place looks safe, we should check it out." Hoseok gestured with his head to the shop just to the side of where they were all gathered.

Namjoon nodded his head in response, then peered into the window, and looked for any signs of movement. Whilst he did that the others monitored the slowly approaching, maggot-riddled bodies. Namjoon signalled that the coast was clear, and they all entered the shop.

A rotten smell invaded their senses. They immediately knew that most of the food that had been left on the shelves were inedible. Luckily, the shop's backup generator kept the fridges and other appliances running. Collectively, they grabbed everything they could, and what they would most definitely need.

Namjoon told the others which aisles to go down and to be careful. Who knew what could be hidden within the places they couldn't see...

Namjoon strolled casually down one aisle and put anything he could find in his backpack. He almost reached the end when he heard footsteps from around the corner. He pressed himself against the shelves, his heart beating rapidly.

Whoosh! He heard something slice through the air, and an aluminium bat stopped just before his face. He blinked and saw how close he had been to getting his face disfigured.

"Geez Namjoon, you scared me!" a familiar voice said, and then the bat was lowered.

Namjoon was still stood against the shelves, and he watched as a guy ran up behind the girl. He held her shoulders and asked if she was ok.

"Amara, you're alive?!" Namjoon shrugged his bag onto his back and then moved closer to the male and female pair.

"That's right." Amara giggled and shared a secret smile with the guy still behind her.

His hands were still on her shoulders, and Namjoon felt a pang of jealousy; even though he had no right to be jealous. He'd only seen her around college and had only spoken to her when the world around them had become chaotic. So the green-eyed monster should give it a rest.

"How did you get away? The zombies had you surrounded."

Amara exchanged another look with the guy and said, "well, it's a long story..."
