15 | Secrets

Haechan confidently walked into the main room and acted like nothing was wrong.

Although, if you looked closely at him, you would see beads of sweat on his forehead, and his eyes were narrowed as he tried to hold in the pain he felt.

A metallic taste filled his mouth, as he constantly bit the inside of his cheek, so he didn't scream out loud. The last thing he needed was for the group to realise that something was off about him and discover the bite in his side.

Some might think of him as selfish for keeping it a secret, and that it would put everyone's lives in danger. However, for Haechan, it was a way for him to avoid the reality of the situation; he was going to turn into a zombie, eventually.

He wasn't ready to accept the truth of it all, and he most certainly wasn't ready to say goodbye.

So, he had to threaten the girl to stay quiet, even if it hurt him to do so. Despite not knowing her all that well, he wasn't a wholly malicious person, who liked to inflict pain on others. Yet, with Amara, it had been an absolute necessity.

The next to enter the room was Amara, who followed closely behind Haechan. Once they both had made it over to the group, Haechan sat by his friends, and Amara sat beside Namjoon.

Whilst they were eating, Namjoon nudged Amara, and inquired, "why are you so down?"

"Yeah, you usually aren't this quiet," chimed in Jimin. "Did something happen?"

"Well..." Amara's gaze flickered over to Haechan, and he briefly shook his head, meaning that she wasn't to say anything. She lowered her eyes and studied the bread that she held in her hands.

The whole group was now focused on her and waited for her reply. Should she tell them the truth? Or should she keep his secret?

Conflicting emotions swirled about inside her, and she mulled over what would be the best thing to do.

Coming to a conclusion, she opened her mouth and started to say, "Haechan..."

"Don't!" Haechan jumped up and made to pounce on Amara, but he was held back by the other guys.

Whilst he struggled to break free from their holds on him, Amara said, "Haechan was bitten."
