Flames erupted to the darkened skies, and the group of 7 watched as the old building burnt to the ground, along with the body of their friend.
Hoseok's face floated to the forefront of her mind, and tears slid down Amara's cheeks as she recalled everything from their past. He was like the sunshine, bringing warmth to everything/everyone that crossed his path. And now his light had been snuffed out, never to be lit again; leaving everyone in perpetual darkness.
As Amara wallowed in that darkness, she suddenly felt someone clumsily bring her into their embrace, and she somewhat softened in their hold. Raising her head she saw that it was Namjoon.
His face was bruised, and although his eyes were red, he looked like he was keeping a stronghold on his own emotions, so as to not break down in front of her.
Tightening his arms around her, he buried his head in her shoulder and she could feel him trembling. Rubbing his back, she soothed him and that was when something within him broke, and his tears flowed like a waterfall. It was like that tight hold he had on his inner feelings was for nothing, and now that he had Amara in his arms, he felt safe enough to let it all out.
The rest of the group stood off to the side, in their own states of grief. None of them could believe that their friend, who they had been through so much with, was gone. They could feel an emptiness that was almost unnatural like they had thought that Hobi would always be there.
Until he wasn't.
Amara sighed and strengthened her resolve, before moving out of Namjoon's arms, and turning to face the others. Each of their faces was ashen, and their grief was plain to see. Of course, Amara was sad and she could feel herself becoming numb to everything around her, but this was how things were now.
Every day tested their means to survive, and not everyone would be able to live to see another day. If they didn't come to terms with this... if they continued to dwell on the memories of those who died, and never let go, they would not be able to find the strength to carry on. It would do nothing but cut the thin rope that they were currently trying to stay balanced on, and everything they had done to live on would come to nought.
Amara closed her eyes, and then when she opened them her sadness was completely hidden. Instead, they were filled with a look of determination. Once this was shown to everyone around her, their sobs got caught in their throats.
"Listen up, I know that losing Hobi is heartbreaking, but we have to keep on going." Amara stood up straighter and spoke to the guys. "We don't know what is lurking in the woods, or if there are other dangers here. If we don't leave now, who knows how many more people we might lose? Get your shit together and then get in the car."
"She's right." Namjoon hardened his mind and slung an arm about her shoulders. He leaned on her for support, and although his heart still felt like it was going to shatter at the thought of losing his friend, there was a part of him that knew what Amara was saying was true. "We can't stay here. Get in the car and we'll look for somewhere else we can stay."
The guys hurriedly nodded and hopped into the car, leaving Namjoon and Amara alone outside.
Namjoon looked down at Amara and felt his heart swell with appreciation and pride. He leaned down and pecked her on the lips, then embraced her once more.
They didn't linger for too long outside, because like Amara said, it was too dangerous to stay here for more time than they needed to.
With one last shared smile, they too got into the car, and then they were on their way to find a new hideout.
