Bang!

Amara flinched at the loud gunshot and turned her head away, to avoid seeing the gaping hole that had appeared in Haechan's skull. Brain matter leaked out and slid down his bruised cheeks, dirtying the rags that adorned his torso. He slumped to the floor and didn't move again.

Turning back to face her captor, she saw that someone else had joined him, and her eyes widened. "Taeyong..." disbelief coloured her words. "You helped us before so why? Why would you do this?"

Taeyong snorted and played with the gun in his hands. "Yeah, I helped you before but that became meaningless once you betrayed us."

"Betrayed you?" Amara just barely stopped herself from rolling her eyes. "More like I saved you." She flinched once again when a bullet whooshed past her face; it nicked her cheek, and blood instantly flowed out from the cut.

"Don't talk back!" Taeyong's gaze had turned menacing, and he brandished the gun in her direction. "We lost so many of our group before this, and now we've lost one more. It's all your fault! If I hadn't met you, or allowed you to stay here, Haechan would still be alive!"

"Who's the one who just put a bullet in his head?" Amara couldn't help herself and she sneered at the two males below her.

"I said don't talk back!" Taeyong screamed. "I was going to do this the easy way, but it seems you want to do this the hard way. Doyoung bring them in!"

Amara shifted her head back to the front and watched as Doyoung tugged on a rope, and a group of seven males lurched forward. Straightaway Amara knew who they were, despite the cloth sacks that covered their heads, and she bit her tongue to stop herself from calling out their names.

"From your expression, I can tell that you already know who they are." Taeyong grasped the shoulder of one of the males and forced him to the ground, he cried out when his knees painfully struck the floor.

"Why are you doing this?" Amara held back the tears threatening to fall, but she couldn't stop her voice from cracking. "Let them go!"

Laughter now filled the desolate room, and Taeyong scoffed, "not a chance. You should pay for what you've done to us." A crazed look overcame his features, and it honestly scared Amara a little. Taeyong had been the one to welcome them into the group, and the one who stuck by their side when all the others resented them, yet now he was like a different person altogether.

Losing Haechan had undoubtedly had a tremendous impact on him, and now he was pointing a gun at all of them. Death was clawing at them from the depths below, and Amara had no idea what she was going to do to get them out of there.

"Haechan would've died whether or not I intervened... He was turning and there was nothing anybody could have done to save him." Amara tried to reason with Taeyong. "If I kept his secret like he wanted me to, we would have all died alongside him. I only did what was right."

Taeyong wavered at her words, and reason gleamed in his eyes for a second, but they became inflamed once more, and he yelled up at her, "you thought you were doing right by everyone, but you should've left well enough alone. Once Haechan turned we could've dealt with it then. You didn't even give us the chance to spend his last days with him or to say a proper goodbye. We had to put him with the others..."

"The others?"

Taeyong blanched once he realised what he had said. "That's not relevant right now." He raised the gun and placed it against the back of one of the guy's heads. "Do you know what it's like to lose someone? To never be able to talk to that person again or create more memories with them? To never see them again, I doubt you do. But now you will."

His finger pressed the trigger, and Amara screamed when the guy slumped forward, blood now staining the sack over his head; Taeyong ripped it away to reveal the battered face of...

"Hoseok!"
