Chapter 2

Dreamy Eyes

Glenn showed me around the prison. It looked secure. Safe. Exactly what I needed. "Over there is Beth." A short, champagne blonde haired girl swiftly walked over to me. "Hello. I'm Ray..." I trailed off. "Hi. I'm Beth. If you want to talk, just come right up to me." I smiled and nodded once. "That's Carol, Tyreese, Daryl, Shane and Maggie." Glenn pointed in random directions. I noted the names in my mind. Not that I will remember them. Maggie swiftly raced over to me. She wore faded jeans and a white, floral shirt. "Hey." Her western accent shocked me. It was so strong. "Hello. I'm Ray." I gestured my hand to her but she ignored me and wrapped her arms around my neck. "Umm...." I was pretty speechless. We were starters and she hugged me. Why? She released me and studied my features. "Thank you for keeping Glenn safe. Thank you for brining him back." I lifted an eyebrow and glanced at Glenn, who was staring at Maggie. "Umm... I..." Glenn interrupted me. Practically saved me from looking like a jerk. "Sorry Ray. This is my wife." I brightly smiled. "Umm... Great." I backed away a little bit to leave them alone. "Oh... Umm... Join us later. We have dinner." I nodded and smiled at the thought of food. I tuned my back and walked directly into the C block. I entered my cell. It was quite small but at least it had a bed. I unpacked all my things and lined up all my empty water bottles on the desk table. I glanced at the trash bin. I didn't need the bottles anymore so I threw them in the garbage. I shoved my rusk sack underneath the bed and walked outside. The darkness shocked me. I looked at my watch. It was already 10:30pm. I joined the group who was surrounding a crackling fire. "You ok?" Beth asked me. I nodded. Shyness flew through my body. Something I don't usually get. I shrugged and sat a few metres away from everyone else. The sky was sprinkled with shimmering stars. They glittered like jewels. I could barely hear the grunts of the walkers. They were poking their hands through the fence holes. I shook my head at the sight. My whole family was killed by those things. It was incredible at how everyone was just wiped out. Wiped out completely. I studied the huge metallic moon. Black clouds slowly drifted past the beautiful round rock. I inhaled the fresh, misty air. A tall figure strolled towards me and a man sat close to me. I felt quite uncomfortable. Who was this man? I darted my eyes towards him. He was wearing a beige shirt with denim jeans. His hair was chocolate brown that's slicked back. Every feature was perfect. But the thing that stood out the most was his amazing, blue crystal eyes. The glimmered in the bright moonlight. How could anyone be so... Amazing.... Perfect.... Mesmerising... Dreamy?... "Sorry. I didn't get the chance to introduce myself. I'm Rick. Rick Grimes."
