"Where you going?" Daryl grunted before I walked out the prison gates. I glanced at him with panic. I didn't want to tell him what I was planning to do. "Urgh.... On a run." I replied back with hesitation. "Need help?" I glanced at him from under my lashes and I shook my head. "Sorry for... For getting you in trouble with Rick." He mumbled before sighing. "Don't worry about it... It was my fault. Don't let him get to you." I swiftly kissed him on the cheek before turning my back on the prison.

The forest tails were covered with fresh, glistening leaves that squelched from underneath my boots. The earthy breeze flooded the natural area as the giant, towering pine trees slightly swayed. A group of chirping blackbirds, rapidly zoomed through the white, puffy clouds before disappearing into the pastel horizon.

A deadly walker crept up towards me. Her greasy, blonde hair hung low over her wrinkled, cracked up face. Her fingernails were long with fresh cuts and bruises trailing down her forearm. Groans escaped from her crinkly throat. Before I could even notice the tiny details that caught my eye, my throwing knife stabbed into her head. She fell onto her knees. Blood pooled around her as her entire body collapsed to the mossy ground.

The river laid in front of my bare eyes. Water trickled down the sandy rocks and rippled on the deep surface. A few fish gently swum around stringy, river plants before dashing off behind glistening pebbles.

I shoved off my boots and stepped up towards the river bank. Grass pooled around my feet as runny mud squelched between my dirty toes. I could just about see the bottom of the river. It was deep and dark. Filled with long, twisty plants and shrubs.

I had enough of waiting. Waiting for nothing to happen. The rest of the group would be completely fine without me. They probably wouldn't even notice that I was gone.

Daryl was a hunter. He knew how to survive. Hershel was a doctor. He knew how to improve people's health. Rick was a survivor. He knew how to lead. Why would anyone want me?

It would just take one step. One step and it would be over. There was nothing to do anymore. Four people against a whole world of those monsters. We wouldn't stand a chance.

Just one step Ray. One step.

Breathing in the air, I stepped over the side.

Coldness surrounded me. Water entered my system and swirled around my throat. I was gasping for air but I just had to control myself. I could do it. I know I could. All I had to do was stay underwater until everything goes dark. It was easy.

A plant twisted around my ankle and grabbed my skin, pulling me down deeper. It made my heart thump against my chest. I was panicking. I was going down deeper. It wasn't the plan. Bubbles escaped my mouth as I tried to push back up to the surface. My leg tugged against the thick plants. It just twisted around my leg tighter like a snake. I gulped another flush of salty water down my throat. More and more water drowned my body.

The second I was about to close my eyes, Rick appeared in my mind. His beautiful, gem eyes that sparkled in the bright daylight. His gorgeous mane of chocolate locks that surrounded his perfect face. His pink, full lips that parted slightly. I already missed him.

No. I can't.

All of a sudden, my eyes opened wide. Everything was blurry due to the dirty water. Something was grabbing my shoulder. I tried to shove off. It wouldn't work. A bunch of angry bubbles steamed out of my mouth. A hand became visible. I tried to pull away but the hands grip got tighter.

I pulled away once more and everything went black.
