Ashton met me at the hospital once Romie was emitted. We had been sitting in the waiting room for at least two hours, neither of us allowed to see her yet.
The anxiety was setting in and my nerves were getting the best of me. I was honestly terrified for what was happening. I didn't know what to think. I tried so hard to stay positive and believe that she was ok but I knew better than that. I knew with our luck, something bad was to come from all this. Things had been going too good for too long. It was about time my world came crashing down on me again.
But the worst part about it all was that I had no idea what was going on with her right now. The doctors refused to tell me anything whenever I tried to talk to them. Both Ashton and I had tried to get any information we could and yet we were just as clueless as we were two hours ago.
I have no idea what had happened for her to even do this again. I know she told me she had tried to cut her timer out when she was younger because she didn't like the idea of a timer and found it to be stupid. But what was the reasoning for it this time? Our timers had already gone off and it was irrelevant now. Nothing new had happened with mine so what could have possibly driven her to do this to herself?
Hours ticked by as we continued to wait in silence, Ashton or I both afraid to move from our seats in fear of anything happening. I told him he didn't have to stay but he refused to leave. I knew how much he loved her still and I wasn't going to force it on him.
After close to four hours of waiting around a nurse finally appeared from behind the doors and walked towards the two of us.
"You boys are here for Romie Miller. correct?" she questioned us, her voice was high pitched and instantly got on my nerves. Although I suppose the fact that I had no idea what was going on with my girlfriend had a little something to do with that.
Ashton and I simultaneously stood up from our seats and nodded at the nurse. The two of us hovered over her by at least a foot and a half so we were forced to bend a little to get down to her level.
She backed up a few inches before speaking again. "And how are you two involved with Ms. Miller?"
"I'm her boyfriend." I said quickly before Ashton could speak.
The small nurse nodded at me then looked to Ashton for his response. "We are only letting family in to see her right now because of the condition that she's in." she explained. "So I suppose you're her brother then?" she winked at Ashton.
"Uhh...ya her brother." He stuttered, sending the girl a smile, thanking her for the hint.
"Is she ok?" I interrupted their staring contest to ask my question.
She snapped her gaze from Ashton and looked at me once again. "Ms. Miller was taken into surgery a few hours ago to stitch her up and check for infections. She had cut her head open slightly from the fall and has a concussion, along with the cut on her wrist. The cut was a lot deeper than they realized though so she lost a significant amount of blood. She's doing a lot better now but she's still feeling sick from the loss of blood and the medication she's on."
Ashton and I nodded along with her as she spoke.
"The two of you can see her now but she may be sleeping. She's on some pretty heavy pain killers for her head. She's on the second floor, fourth room on the right. The elevators are down the hall."
Before she could even finish her sentence Ashton and I were halfway to the elevators. We weren't wasting any time that we were given to see her.
Next thing I knew we were sprinting into her room, suddenly stopping at the door afraid that we might wake her if she was asleep.
