Christopher eventually got back to the chemistry classroom where he gently helped Red onto his shoulder while I simply climbed his shirt. We said goodbye to Boltz for the night and Red thanked him once more for help. We also had one last look at Jason attempted to get out of his jar by smashed against it. I felt only a little bad for him given that he deserved what he got.
I helped direct Christopher to where the mouse clan was which was just in the room next to Boltz. However it was locked."Any suggestions on how to get in?" Christopher asked.
"Boltz is still here. Get him to let you in." I answered. Christopher sighed and went back into Boltz's room and asked if he would let us in.
"Jesus, you're asking me to help you trespass into someone else's room." He said with a sigh.
"Please, Mr.Boltz." Christopher said with an awkward but innocent smile.
"Fine. If you get busted that is not my fault. I have nothing to do with this, got it?"
"Yes, yes, we got it." I said while rolling my eyes. "The mouse tribe won't be up all day. We need to get going." Boltz scoffed at my impatience and left with us to the door. He unlocked it and left us to enter on our own. The room was desolate and dark.
"Where do you think they are?" Red asked.
"I'm not sure in all honesty." I answered. "Do not turn on the lights though." I said sternly to Christopher. "Turning on lights will make them hide away even more so than without the lights."
"How would you even get them to come out to us? You two are the only borrowers here." Christopher said as he helped us onto the floor. He carefully sat down in front of Red and I. "I don't want to frighten them or make them attack me."
"The mouse tribe is peaceful, don't worry." Red said with a confidence I did not share when it came to this new territory.
"We are peaceful to friendly people, that is true." A voice said from a darkened shadow under a desk. A man with gray mouse ears, shaggy brown hair, slightly wrinkled eyes and a stubbly beard walked out from the shadows. A group of archers followed behind him. It was clear that he was the leader.
"Are you friend or enemy?" He asked, paying no mind to Christopher while his guards had narrowed eyes at him.
"I suppose I am friend although I have been banned from my tribe." I told him. "Red has been kicked out as well." Red's ears flattened slightly.
"They tried to poison me too. Jack wants me dead." She said quietly. The mouse tribe leader had slightly wide eyes.
"Jack tried to have you killed? By poison?" He asked. When we nodded he shook his head. "I never trusted that bastard." He looked at me. "Did he try to kill you as well?"
"No. I was banished after Jack had my tribe attempt to kill him," I pointed back at Christopher who was awkwardly watching us. "In exchange for his secrecy, I was traded to him."
"It seems that Jack has lost all sense of honor." The leader said. He looked at Christopher then back at us. "I suppose you will no do any harm here. My name Elliot, most call me Eli." He did a slight bow, a formal thing to do when introducing yourself.
"Nice to meet you." Red and I said. We looked at Christopher who was clearly nervous and the guards pointing arrows at him didn't help his case. Sensing his discomfort, Eli turned to his guards.
"He is a guest so weapons down." He said calmly. The guards hesitated but lowered their weapons. Eli looked back at Christopher. "We have heard stories about you and they are not good."
