just in case anybody was confused about how this world works I will write it down. I understand some of my names for characters and politics will be a little off, so I'm trying to comb through and tie any loose ends up.
There are the FIVE major species.
Magicks- this includes people with one special gift, Animos, empath, control fire, control air currents, etc. They have a Chancellor elected every four years. Magicks are born with gifts, there are half-breeds and pure-breds in this race as well. Gifts are genetically inherited but its a 50/50 chance which one you'll inherit. It's rare to obtain a gift when both your parents are human.
Werewolves- This speaks for itself. They elect a Chancellor every 4 years as well, the candidates must be a pack Alpha or Luna. If the Chancellor dies, then a sibling for family member will be the interim leader.
Warlocks- This is like witches, they do witchcraft, possess familiars (cats that are bonded to them), they can do alchemy, and conjure potions that will do things. Harry Potter type stuff, they can do trivial spells and things like that. They have a High Warlock which is always a boy and is a monarchy. The first born son is the High Warlock.
Vampires- Exactly what it says, although they don't sparkle and they can stand the sun. They can see themselves in the mirrors too. They are not necessarily pale but they are the undead and can live up to 500 if they are changed vampires, and 700 for pure-breds. They have a monarchy as well as a presidential democracy. Queen Vasilisa Alexiou is 322 and is the reigning Queen, and they elect a President every five years. The President must be a blood relative of the Queen.
Glaciems- Is a complete monarchy governed race, but after the royal family was exterminated, a Chancellor was appointed by the people. Kalvin Lait was appointed when the Silver War ended and still continues to be the Chancellor, another will be appointed when he dies.
Necromancers- The outcasts of society. Used to be Magicks, but they are prone to be overcome with power and turn stir-crazy. They conjure up Shadowmen, which would be explained in later chapters. All you need to know is that they are former Magicks and really RARE, only inherited through genetics.
