I was successful in avoiding Dakota for all of Sunday. After that earth shattering kiss I made it my mission to avoid contact with the insufferable boy.
It occurred to me that I didn't know anything about him, other than that the whole school thought he was a dangerous bad boy, Hazel laid a claim on him, and that he possessed the ability to control fire.
Oh, also that he made me feel unexplainable things. But Dakota Cyrus wasn't the only thing on mind.
I was still reeling from the discovery of Johanna Watson's murder and the rest of the student body was still unaware of it. It was the start of a new school week, which meant I was to continue my lessons with Mr. Baines. It would give me the perfect opportunity to pick his brain about everything I had questions about, starting with Johanna Watson. I also had questions about my parents, and I was hell bent on finding out who they were. This was my new mission, find out about Johanna Watson and my parents. Until that was done and cleared up, I would confront Dakota and figure out this weird tingle connection we had with each other.
It was the first breakfast after the weekend, and Monday had everyone depressed for another week of school. Blythe had bags under her eyes, something that I thought was impossible, and picked at her breakfast plate. She spent the whole Sunday sleeping, and sneaking off to the same boy she met at the party on Sunday night. What they did last night wasn't my concern. I spent the day in the library, as usual, researching necromancers and looking through names of deceased Glaciems to see if anything rung a bell.
Maybe I could unlock my memories and find my parents, I would have to ask Mr. Baines about that too. Man, I had to make a list.
Marina and Lucy moved at a snail like pace as they ate their breakfast, I just stared at all four of them. "You guys look horrible" I noted, popping a home fry into my mouth.
"Thanks Aspen for that keen observation" Marina rolls her eyes, wrinkling her nose and itching her septum ring. I was suddenly dreading going to English class this morning, and having to see Dakota again. I prayed that Hazel didn't find out about our little forest make out session or that Dakota didn't tell anyone about it. He didn't seem to have many friends, I only see him hang out with one boy in the hallways. I shook my head, he always seem to creep back up into my mind.
"What happened to you yesterday, and Saturday night?" Blythe asked, "You disappeared and I didn't see you at all yesterday".
I shrugged my shoulder. I still haven't said anything about Johanna Watson's death, worried that Mr. Baines would talk to me about it. I thought it best that I kept it to myself, it wasn't my business to know and I was still new in the this society.
