*few hours before*

I sat in my car watching Sofia hug my mom from her doorstep. I smiled at how she smiled down at he squeezing her to her chest, as if she were trying to protect her from the world. or me. Sofia broke away from the hold mouthing something then turning around to look at me in my car.

My mom looked behind Sofia confused her face dropping when she saw me. "Are you ready?" jasmine said her hand slipping into mine. i turned around to look at her then smiled down at her belly. "As ready as ill ever be" I said kissing her lightly on the lips. "Should I stay in the car, maybe she can meet me on-" "No, i want you here" I said lowly.

She smiled squeezing my hand one more time before unlocking the doors. my mom stood alone on the doorstep watching jasmine and I walk towards her. "Hi mom" I said standing in from of her my hands swung at my sides. She shook her head tears falling down her cheeks.

"Oh son!" she cried out running down the steps pulling me into a embrace. I stood there for a second not knowing exactly what to do. the affection I only got was from Jasmine, and just recently my sister. Jasmine rolled her eyes at me placing my hands around my mom.

I closed my eyes her aroma filling my nostrils. the smell of fresh baked cookies and home embraced me. she broke away from the both hands holding my face. "your home" she said her voice cracking. I smiled kissing her lightly on the forehead. "I'm home"I whispered out. She smiled up at me then looked beside me at Jasmine.

"Oh uh mom, this is Jasmine my girlfriend" I said taking her hand and holding it for reassurance. "Yes yes, Sofia has told me much about you" my mom said holding jasmine arm then hugging her.

"Well lets head inside then" she said pointing us to the door smiling. I took in a large breath before following her inside.

I sat in the corner of the room Rusty (our cat) sleeping soundly in my lap as my fingers weaved threw his fur. "So Jasmine what do you do for work?" my mom said staring at me briefly then looking towards Jasmine.

I rolled my eyes knowing exactly where we were heading. "Oh uh well I actually am a music producer" she said smiling up at her. My mom returned the smile turning towards me.

"Oh so your not in the same field as Christopher then?" My mom said taking a sip from her tea. "No mom she's not" I said cutting off whatever Jasmine was about to say. My mom raised her eyebrows.

"Are you aware of what he does?" My mom said her smile dropping from her face a judge mental one replacing it. "Mom we are not go-" "It's ok babe, yes I am aware of what he does and no,I'm not happy with it but things are changing" Jasmine said shifting uncomfortably in her seat.

My mom opened her mouth to talk but then closed it. "Chris, can I talk to you alone for a minute?" My mom said setting her tea not so gently on the middle table. Jasmine stared at both of us before getting up from the couch.

"I'll go find Sofia" she whispered to me before walking out. "That was rude" I said staring back at my mother sitting back into the chair. "I don't like her" she said blankly. I groaned "Why now?" I said shoving Rusty off my lap. He growled walking out the living room.
