Chapter 13- 抱擁~ (hugs~)
We laughed as the head of the literature made his daily attempt at getting Jahina to join, failing again as she politely turned him down again.
"I feel bad for turning him down all the time..." She breathed with a small laugh, though you could see the lingering guilt in her eyes.
"Well don't feel forced to do something you don't want to." I ruffled her hair like I usually did to Oikawa to snap him out his thoughts. It came so naturally I didn't realise until Jahina looked up at me with red cheeks. I removed my hand from her soft hair, averting my eyes as I fought the urge to blush heavily.
We said nothing as we made our way to club and I began to think of my words. I said that to her, and I truly did mean it, but what if she really wanted was to go to the literature club? I know one person would certainly kick up a fuss. I want her to stay but...
No- I'd support her no matter her choice. We're in the same class anyway. Who am I to stop her?
☆
It was the next day after class that the president of the literature club surprised us most. We were all changed and walking to the gym when Oikawa caught my attention, pointing to Jahina who was being confronted by the president.
"We have been observing you in this club for a while now and my sources tell me you are merely a manager!"
"T-That's correct..."
"What a waste of youth! You'll find that you'd be much more productive with us! We would make much better use of your talents!"
"S-Sorry..."
"Are you truly happy settling for this club?"
"I am happy, I don't settle for the club- I chose it..!"
"What do you even do for the club?! What makes your role so essential you cannot join the club you are destined to be in?!" My fist clenched by my side as Jahina lowered her head, at a loss for words.
"Oi." Both the literature club president and Jahina looked up to me, the president squeaking in surprise and jumping away, probably intimidated by Oikawa's glare emitting from behind me. "Have you got any business with our manager?"
He opens his mouth to answer, but his words fell short. "J-Just think about it!" He uttered to Jahina before scurrying away.
"Tch, what a weirdo." Oikawa scoffed.
"Like you're one to talk." I retorted, looking down at Jahina, who was still staring at her shoes. "Hey, are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah... Thank you for that..."
"He didn't do anything to you did he?!" Oikawa ensnared Jahina in a protective hug that only he could get away with. I wish I could...
"I-I'm fine..!" She managed out, flustered as he pouted, still refused to release her. "He didn't do anything!"
"Don't listen to anything he says! It's fake propaganda!" We both sweat dropped at Oikawa's weird analogy. Yeah, he's definitely the bigger weirdo. "Don't leave us Hoshi-chan!" He suddenly cried out.
Jahina blinked owlishly, then a warm smile broke out on her features as she stopped flailing around. "I'm not leaving any time soon Oikawa-San, no need to worry." She gently rested a hand on his head. "I like being a manager. Even if I don't do much at this point."
Oikawa spun her around dramatically, "You're way too cute Hoshi-chan!"
"O-Oikawa-San! Please put me down!" Jahina squeaked, then stretched her arms out to me, "P-Please help me~ Iwa-chan~!"
My cheeks felt hot and in an instant, smacked Oikawa on the back of the head, causing him to finally release our small manager.
"Thank... Thank you..." She uttered out, crashing into me, wobbling on her feet, eyes still swirling.
"No worries." I rested a hand on her head, like she did for Oikawa. Her hair was soft. "You overdid it Kusoikawa!" I snapped to said male, who feigned hurt and fake tears as he tried to hug Jahina in apology. That was more than enough hugging for one day.
