Part 2
Wayne: Water
"Wayne Andrews! Get your ass back here!" My dad called after me as I ran out the back door.
Screw staying in that god awful lake house with my god awful dad. I ran down the deck and quickly made my way to untie the small paddle boat as my dad quickly and haphazardly put on his shoes to chase me. This summer had been awful and no way in hell I was gonna compromise all of it for this crappy situation.
The one good thing about this lake house is I get the water to escape with.
"Wayne don't you dare get in that boat!" my dad called as I pushed the boat from the dock. I quickly jumped in it and paddled away. All the while my dad called for me.
When I got far enough away I looked back to see my dad standing on the edge of the dock calling out. I couldn't make out what he was saying, and I didn't care to know what he was saying either. My little sister held onto my dad's leg and peaked around him. I couldn't see her face due to the darkness and the bright light behind her, but I knew she probably was probably upset. I turned to face away from the two on the edge of the dock and paddled until I was in the middle of the lake. I loved the mist that surrounded me at this time of night. I laid down in the boat and looked up at the sky. The stars always made the world seem less important than it really is. It oddly comforted me. I closed my eyes and let the waves rock me.
A loud bang caused my eyes to open only to see a large pillar of light. The light was a golden color. It reached past the moon and even seemed to reach beyond stars. Then another pillar of light shot out; this time more nearby. It made a huge gust of wind that rocked the waters of the lake. It pushed my body back and made me lean over the edge. The boat was completely titled to the side and before I got a chance to balance or say anything a blue creature caught my eye. I couldn't describe it well because I only saw it for a second. I only saw it for a second because it came at me to finish the waves job. It pushed the boat over. How? I have no idea. It did though. My boat flipped over and I fell into the water. It was freezing. The water was pitch black and when I tried to kick and swim something grabbed my legs. I moved to try and get what I assumed was weeds off of my legs.
Oh man this is totally how I die. I could feel panic set in.
When I looked back up to the surface the little blue figure floated above me. It glowed blue and looked like another liquid that had been spilt in the lake.
Great. At least I know I went crazy before I die. I thought.
Within seconds the figure lunged towards me again. This time taking me deeper into the water. When I opened my eyes again I had noticed that I was standing at what appeared to be the bottom of the lake. Everything seemed so ... clear. It wasn't as pitch black as before. I looked up and those two light beams were still up there above the lake's seaweed. Does this confirm my death? Something then caught my eye. A small pendant hung on some seaweed. The blue gem glowed and seemed to call out to me. I reached out and grabbed the pendant and suddenly I had become one of those pillars of light.
A bright blue light made me close my eyes. A cold feeling began to surround my body and when I opened my eyes all I could see was blue. The cold feeling washed over me like a wave. It engulfed my whole body and I could easily tell I was being lifted out of the water.
I didn't feel dead. Not at all. But was I dead? I closed my eyes again when the cold rushed to my face. I felt my body break the surface of the water and I felt my feet being set on a solid surface. I opened my eyes and instantly checked over my body. I was covered in a blue skin type suit—like a wet suit or something. Maybe even a superhero suit? I then noticed exactly what I was standing on.
Water. The solid my feet were set on was the surface of the lake. I would say I'm dead but my breath still raised and fell as I ran.
Wait... when did I start running? I don't know why I started but I know that I am heading for that yellow light. It also doesn't seem I'm the only one either. Whoever was in that red light is just in front of me and their fire red hair is glowing through the trees. This might just be the adventure I hoped for. It is calling me and I don't want to turn back now. I won't turn back now.
