Part 4

Elliot: The Grumpy New Superheroes

Running through forests is hard. There is a reason I climb mountains and not do cross country. It's not that my stamina is bad. It's just running isn't my favorite.

When I got to the beam I instantly fell flat on my face. In front of three other teens. They were wearing similar suits to me too. I knew we were superheroes!

The problem now was that I fell flat on my face... in front of three teens my age... that were going to be my new super cool superhero team. I felt unbelievably stupid. I hurried to my feet and said a greeting I think.

Honestly, I was too stressed to even think straight. I can't remember exactly what I said, nor what the others said either, but the girls started arguing and the boy in blue made it worse. I panicked and yelled something about team work. They all were looking at me like I was crazy. What did I say? Where was I going with what I was saying?

Oh man... everyone was grumpy and mad at each other and we haven't even known each other for a minute. Before I realized the girl in green disappeared in the light.

The boy in blue began to head into the light. "ah wait..." I said probably too quiet for anyone to hear. Mom said I need to fix that. Once the blue boy went in the girl in red let out an aggravated roar and ran into the beam after them.

I hesitated and called out. "guys?" My voiced squeaked. They didn't respond. "Guys?!" I called out more panicked. "GUYS?!" I asked as the beam seemed to be closing.

"Oh god." I squeaked out.I then sprinted into the beam. Worst. Idea. Ever. I instantly began to float and I spun really, really fast. It made me want to barf. I squeezed my eyes shut tight and covered them with my hands. This was the worst. I wanted to get sick but what would happen if I did. This was horrible. The next thing I know I'm hitting the floor with a thud and a pained groan.
