I sat on the edge of Sayuri's bed, waiting patiently while she cleaned and bandaged my wound. Occasionally I winced when she touched my wound too roughly or when my cheek started throbbing again. Sayuri really knew how to throw a punch. I was a little mad at her, but those feelings were drowned by the relief that I felt knowing that Sayuri didn't hate me for what I had just told her. She hasn't been as emotional as she was today for years, I mused. I hope she'll be able to handle this new life...

Sayuri worked quickly and soon she patted my arm softly, letting me know she was done with her treatment. I thanked her before getting up again. "We really should go to sleep now," I said. "It's been a long day."
Sayuri nodded in agreement and saw me to her door. I wished her goodnight before returning to my flat. I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.

The next day I was woken by the bustling of the street under my balcony. It appeared that I had forgotten to close the door the previous night. As I got out of bed groggily and slid the glass door shut, I realised that the sun was already up in the sky- it must have been at least nine. Damn, I'm late again! I cursed as I hurried back to my bed, scavenging the floor for some clean clothes. I left my front door ten minutes later and was about to make my way to meet Team 7, when I remembered Sayuri. Should I take her with me? But I was already late... I shook my head. Even when Sayuri was living next-door to me, I was still failing to involve her. I turned on my heel and knocked on her door. When I heard no answer, I cautiously let myself in.

Sayuri was still asleep in her bed, every part of her body covered by the blanket apart from her feet, which were sticking over the edge of the bed. I couldn't bite back a smile at this familiar sight. "Sayuri," I sang softly, edging towards the bed. "It's time to wake up." There was a small groan from beneath the covers and Sayuri slowly peaked over the sheets. Her face was a little puffy- probably from yesterday's crying- and her hair was tangled.
"What's the time?" She asked groggily.
"Around nine," I answered. "And I need to get to work. If you want to come with me, you'd better get dressed."
Sayuri yawned and rubbed her eyes, before throwing her blanket to one side and getting up. I struggled to keep a blush from my face as my eyes slowly swept over her body. She was still wearing the pyjama from yesterday- shorts and a tank top made of silky green fabric. Her shoulders and upper back were bare but apart from that, the outfit wasn't particularly revealing. And I've seen this pyjama many times before, I told myself. So why was my face getting so red? I shook my head.

"Should I prepare a quick breakfast for you?" I offered. "That way you'll be faster getting ready."
"You really don't need to do that!" Sayuri exclaimed. "I'll just eat a big lunch. I don't want to make you wait."
"Well I haven't eaten yet either. Besides, I said I'd make something while you were getting ready. It won't make us any later than we already are."
"We're late?!" Sayuri asked shrilly, before sprinting into the bathroom. A few seconds later I could hear the shower starting. I smiled. "There's no rush!" I called after her.

Only seconds after I had finished cooking two omelettes, Sayuri rushed out of the bathroom again, fully dressed. "I'm done! We can go now!" She said proudly, standing in front of me with her hands on her hips.
"Don't forget your omelette," I reminded her. She grunted, taking two slices of bread and sandwiching the omelette between them.
"I'll eat on the way," She said before taking a large bite. I sighed, then followed her example. But there really isn't any point in rushing...

As expected, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura were already waiting for us when we finally arrived in the clearing we had been planning to train in. They didn't look very happy.
"You're late!" Naruto grumbled, pointing a finger at me accusingly.
"I'm sorry guys," I smiled. "I overslept. But look who came with me." I stepped to the side and gestured to Sayuri theatrically. Then I frowned. A scarf was wrapped tightly around her face, hiding everything bellow her eyes.  She must have put it on before we got here, I thought. But why?
