We were called down third. I stayed by Killua's side the entire time. We walked to the place where we were supposed to go and knocked on the door.
"Come in," called a voice. We opened the door and walked in. Netero was sitting on a cushion behind a long table, holding a brush and a pad of paper. Behind him was a painting of a single character. I couldn't understand what it meant. There was one cushion in front of the table.
"Oh, hello. Please, have a seat. I can grab another pillow if you need." He reached behind him but I held up my hand.
"No thank you, I'll be fine," I said. He turned back and nodded. Killua sat on the cushion and I sat a little behind him on his right side.
"So, what's this all about?" Killua asked.
"Oh, I just have a few questions I'd like to ask you, that's all."
"Will it be a part of the next phase?"
"We'll see... Now, first question: Why do you want to become a Hunter?"
"Well, I don't really want to even become a Hunter. I just took this test so I could get away for a while and have some fun. I thought that the test would be difficult, but it seems that it's not all that hard," Killua nonchalantly replied.
"I see... Next, which of the other applicants are you keeping an eye on?"
"It's gotta be Gon, since we're the same age."
"Mhm... and lastly, which of the other eight applicants would you least want to fight?"
"Hmm... I don't want to fight number 53. I think that'd be the least interesting fight out of all of them."
"I see. Well, thank you for your time. You may go." The Chairman waved us off. We stood and left.
"Well, that was weird... Wonder if it's linked to the final phase," Killua commented. He put his hands behind his head and we walked until we found a little place to rest.
"Oh!" I exclaimed, suddenly.
"Hunh? What is it?"
"I forgot to ask if I could stay with you until the test was over..." I looked down and groaned.
"Well, it's not like they can take you away from me anyway," he laughed. I looked up, surprised.
"What do you mean?"
"You really think I'd let them send you home before I did? You're funny!" He laughed some more and I smiled.
As soon as I was about to say 'thank you', we came to an abrupt stop.
"Thank you for your patience. Will everyone please make their way off the ship and to the testing area for the final phase?" the loud speaker said.
"Guess this is our stop. Let's go!" Killua hopped up and grabbed my hand, pulling me to the exit.
When we finally got off, we were ushered to a large room, the Chairman standing in the middle of it. On our left was the former examiners and on our right was a line of burly men in suits. They reminded me greatly of the ones back at the mansion. When I saw them, I actually got a little homesick. I wondered how Katrina was getting along without me... I was pulled out of my thoughts when two men grabbed me by my arms and started pulling me out of the room.
"H-Hey! Let me go!" I tried to wrestle myself free, but they were too strong. "Killua!" I called. He turned and sprinted towards me. He was about to spring when Netero called out for them to stop.
"Leave her be, she is fine. She is the boy's personal assistant and is to be by his side at all times. Let her go."
They released me. I ran over to Killua and shuffled our way into the room. I looked at his eyes and saw him searching around. He was wary. He suddenly grabbed my hand, but kept looking around. My face flushed and I turned his face towards me.
