"The second match is Kurapika versus Hisoka," called Masta. Like before, the opponents walked to the middle of the floor.
"Begin!" yelled the referee. They stood for a moment, then the battle began. It didn't take long, surprisingly. The moment before Hisoka said that he surrendered, he whispered something into Kurapika's ear that none of us could hear.
The third match was the pink-hat guy named Pokkle and Hanzo. Hanzo won immediately.
The next match was between Hisoka and an old looking man named Bodoro. Hisoka beat the crap out of him, but Bodo-dude didn't give in. When he was lying on the floor, Hisoka whispered something to him too, and Bodo-dude finally conceded.
The fifth match was between Killua and Pokkle.
"Good luck!" I said to him, but he just replied with, "I don't need it." I figured he was just still being grumpy about earlier, but he actually didn't need it because he conceded the match as soon as it began.
"Sorry, but I'm not interested in fighting you," he declared as he walked back to my side.
"Just because you're not interested in fighting someone, doesn't mean you should give up the opportunity... You could easily beat him!" I chided.
"But that's the thing, it would've been too easy. You saw how quickly he gave in when he battled Hanzo. Don't worry, I'm gonna win the next fight. That's the one I'm into." He grinned his cheeky grin at me, but I was still scowling as we turned back to the arena.
It was Leorio and Bodoro's turn to fight next, but Leorio asked the ref if they could postpone it while Bodoro recovered. They agreed and Killua was up again. His opponent: Gittarackur.
"Now you can wish me luck," Killua said.
"How about a 'be careful' instead? He looks really weird and he gives me the creeps. I feel like I know him from somewhere too..."
"Oh don't worry. I'll be fine. You know I'm super tough." He winked at me.
"G-Give me a high five!" I ordered, holding my hand up.
"What?"
"Just give me a high five. It's what I used to do in... in my guild before a fight. I'd give everyone a high five, to kinda give them some of my strength, in a metaphorical way, of course!" I gave a nervous grin. But he did.
He slapped my hand, but held it there for a moment. That familiar zap shivered through my body when we touched. He didn't take his hand away. Instead, he intertwined his fingers with mine and put his forehead on mine, closing his eyes. I closed mine as well.
"Thank you. I couldn't have gotten this far without you." Then he pulled away and went into the middle of the room where Gittarackur and Masta were waiting. I stayed behind, trying to hide my face from my friends by putting my hood up.
I watched as the ref through his hands like he was a gangster about to give out the best roast of the year and yell 'begin!'. The two didn't move.
Killua moved forward with his silent steps until he was right in front of Gittarackur.
"It's been too long, Kil." Killua stopped in his tracks. I froze on the spot.
'What? There's no way... Who could that be!?' I thought, horrified.
The man pulled out the pins with yellow knobs on the ends and I watched as his face contorted and retracted to make an entirely new face. I recognized it immediately.
"Brother..." whimpered Killua, obviously terrified. Sweat was dripping down his face by the bucketful.
"Hey," Illumi said.
