"Jil...? Is everything okay?"
I quickly wiped my tears away and turned to face him.
"Yea, I'm okay," I tried to smile.
"No... you're not. What's wrong?"
"N-nothing. Why're you here? What about our laptops?"
"It's here," he lifted two laptop bags to show me.
"Ah... what about Vinc? The event?"
"Stop avoiding the question. What happened. I saw your mom and Sylviette. Did she get angry at you for leaving her alone?"
"..."
I can't tell him the truth. I'm holding in my tears so I wouldn't worry him.
"No. She just said thanks and left."
"Then what took you so long?"
"I can't find my phone," I tried to laugh it off.
"Silly girl. You should've told me so I can call you," he put a laptop bag down and patted my head.
Somehow, his touch seems to be so warm.
I hugged him and whispered "thanks".
He seems confused but hugged me back with a hand and pat on my back.
"You should go home and do your homework. I'll bring you out tomorrow!" He smiled.
"Okay!" I smiled.
He handed over my laptop and we bid farewell. I smiled as I walked into my home.
"Home is where the heart is."
I lay down on my bed, staring at the ceiling.
"Dad... I miss you... a lot..."
-the next day-
I woke up to the sound of doorbell. I guess it must be Vincent.
I rubbed my eyes and opened the door.
"What?! You just woke up?!"
"Yea. What? Something wrong?"
"Everything's wrong! Do you know what time is it now, young lady?!"
"Ugh... it's only 2 p.m.," I yawned.
"We were supposed to go out together, remember?"
"Just give me ten minutes."
"What do you mean ten minutes?!"
"Taking bath and getting ready only takes about ten minutes. What's wrong with that? It's only hoodie, jeans and ponytail anyways."
"What's wrong with you?! I can't understand girls nowadays. Dress up please. I guess going out for you must be a rare occassion, that's why I'm offering to bring you out."
"But walking in a skirt is tough."
"I'm not asking you to wear a skirt. I'm just saying that please remember that you're a girl. You should dress up nicely. Please put down your hair."
"Geez you nag so much," I covered my ears and silently smiled.
-Ten minutes later-
"Do I... look weird?"
"A-are you really Jilly? T-the girl I-I'm bringing out?" He looked shocked.
"As I thought... I looked weird."
"N-no. You're too pretty and you look really different with your hair down," he looked away.
"T-thanks. Alright! Let's go party!!"
He chuckled.
"Where are we?"
"Park."
"Park?"
"Park."
"It... doesn't seems like a park to me...?"
"Let's go!"
"Listen when people is talking to you!!"
-At the park-
"Why'd you bring me here?"
"I thought you'd enjoy yourself."
What...?
"What about your work?"
"I took a day off. There will be piles of paperworks for me tomorrow," he sobbed.
"I'm s-"
"-but it's worth it. Having fun with Jil, it's worth it," he looked at me and smiled.
Awkward silence.
"Look at that cute couple over there. The girl seems to be blushing and that guy didn't even realise," one of the passerby said to his friend.
Vincent seems to heard him as well and realised his actions. He blushed and apologised.
"What for? It's okay anyways I get what you're trying to say," I smiled.
I know that he just pity me for being lonely... but I really shouldn't get too close with people. It's scary not knowing a person's true intention you.
"There's an ice cream truck!!" He exclaimed and ran off.
"Seriously... am I dealing with a kid or an adult..." I mumbled.
"Is that guy giving you trouble?" An unknown voice spoke.
"Ha? Sam?"
"Yo, Jil!"
Sam is my one and only friend in school. He sits infront of me.
"What brings you here?"
"I'm with my brother. He's lining up to buy ice cream. You?"
"I'm... with my neighbour. He's buying ice cream as well," I said, pointing to him.
I guess he saw my action as he was waving at us. Sam waved back and chuckled.
"Your boyfriend?"
"No," I replied with a straight face. "Never."
He chuckled.
"Enough with the teasing, Sam!"
Vincent walked back with the ice cream but he seems unhappy.
"I'm Sam. Nice to meet you, Mr Neighbour."
"I don't like you, kiddo," he glared at Sam and Sam glared back.
"Stop it, both of you. Stop acting like a kid," I spoke to stop their piercing glares.
"Sam, your brother is buying ice cream now so take good care of him; Vincent, we're going home right this instance," I added.
I made them shake hands to reconcile before parting ways. After that, Sam went home obediently with his brother and Vincent was in a bad mood because he had to do some childish handshake with Sam.
During the ride home, Vincent seems to be mumbling some stuffs about Sam.
