After we've started dating, we've been seeing each other everyday and had been going out together to have fun.

That is, until one day...

"Hello? Jiji?"

"Hello? What's wrong Sylvie? Where's your mommy?"

"Mommy told me to wait for you here."

What is she scheming again?

"Sylvie, how long have you been here?"

"About 10 minutes?"

"Are you hungry?"

"Kinda..."

"Hold on, ya. Jiji is going to ask uncle Vincent to drive us out for lunch, alright?" I pointed over to his room.

"Alright."

"Actually, Jil. I've never had the chance to ask you before but... What's going on in your family?"

"It's... Complicated," I let out a sigh and brushed my hair behind my ear.

"Tell me, I want to know," he said, holding my hand. It's like he is telling me to rely on him.

"Here goes nothing... As you know, Sylvie isn't my biological sister. More like , we're technically not related either."

"How come?" He questioned in confusion.

"Well... My dad is married to my mom, who gave birth to me, but she eventually passed away when I was only three. He then remarried Sylvie's mom, but he loves her, sincerely."

"After she gave birth to Sylvie, dad still loves me more than Sylvie, and I guess he paid more attention to me and Sylvie, abandoning her," I added.

"I guess it is from that point onwards that she doesn't feel dad's love, and soon had an affair. Dad found out and felt cheated, and he eventually died from depression. I was too young that time, so I couldn't help dad..." I teared up.

"That's my biggest regret. I couldn't save dad."

"Jil... I'm sure your dad wouldn't want you to carry these regret in your life."

"I know. Whenever I thought about it, I'd convinced myself by saying the exact same thing as you did. But it's not easy."

"Thanks for telling me, even though it's hard. You've done great holding it in, Jil," he patted my head and proceeded to kiss my forehead.

After we finished eating, Vincent drove us home and downstairs, we met mom.

"Mommy~!" Sylvie shouted in excitement.

"H-hello, aunty," Vincent greeted her.

"Hi. And who may you be?"

"I'm... Jilly's boyfriend."

"I see. Take care of her," she said to him as she is preparing to leave with Sylvie.

It's no use. She really hates me. Lost in thoughts, I went up to my room and slept.

***

"A-aunty!"

"What is it? Where's Jil?"

"She went home..."

"That's good. She must've been tired," she smiled out of relief.

"W-what? I thought you hate her?" Vincent asked in confusion.
