The Light of Heaven

Chapter 7

Clary knew that she had made a mistake but she was too stubborn to admit it. She hoped that Jace would be back soon but if they were only going to fight it wouldn't matter. After the phone call Clary ran to their bedroom and cried. Everything was always her fault. Her mothers death. Making Jace feel hopeless. Not taking care of Imogen. Clary heard a knock on the door. She assumed that it would be Sophie but Imogen walked in. When Clary saw Imogen and her resemblance to Jocelyn made her cry harder. Imogen walked up to Clary and somehow managed to climb on her lap. Still sobbing Clary stroked Imogen'shair. " It's okay mommy. I made daddy feel sorry." Despite it, Clary laughed. Imogen was so innocent and she had no idea what was going on but she knew that Jace had said something to make her feel sad. " It's not daddy's fault". She told Imogen. Imogen gave her sad look and asked, "Is it my fault?". Clary laughed out loud and said no. She then carried Imogen to the garden and she let Imogen distract her from her thoughts. 

That night Jace called again but he didn't mention Jocelyn which Clary was thankful for. They managed to have a quick conversation and Jace said that he would be back tomorrow. Clary smiled and decided to clean the house before Jace came back. It was a huge task but with Sophie's help they were done at 11 o'clock. Clary put Shawn in bed and hoped that he wouln't wake up at midnight since Clary was really tired. Shawn did wake up at 2 but Sophie managed to keep him quiet so tht Clary could sleep.

Sophie took Shawn to the rose garden and walked him around. She sang lullabies to him and when he fell asleep she walked back inside. Inside she found Jace sitting in the study reading something. She knocked on door which started Jace but when he saw that it was her, he smiled. "Welcome back" Sophie said. Jace walked up to her and while he took Shawn from her he said," I was allowed to go early". Sophie asked him what he was reading. Jace said, " An assignment about the missing angels". Sophie didn't ask further. Jace and Clary got many assignments from the Clave, so she didn't worry. 

Jace brought Shawn back to bed and then went to Clary. Before he entered their bedroom he asked Sophie not to tell Clary about the assignment. Sophie replied" Don't worry. I won't"
