The moment Clary and Jace entered Atlicante, they felt the tension in the atmosphere. Jace quickly told Clary all the details of his last visit, including his assignment. Clary gasped, " Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to worry you."

" Well I am worried now."

" Lets just hurry up to the conclave."

"Fine"

There was a huge chaos in the conclave. People were rushing around and Isabelle was trying to get their attention but it wasn't working. People were panicking. Even though they didn't fully know what was wrong. But angels not reaching the demon dimension? That was pretty serious. Jace stood one of the tables and tried to get peoples attention. Clary managed to get Izzy's attention and she came over.

"Jace will calm them down"

"I hope so"

Unfortunately, Jace couldn't calm the ferocious mob. His meant to be soothing words had the opposite effect.

"Listen everyone! We should all calm down, we are shadowhunters not unorganized demons. Lets listen to Isabelle and find out what the problem is."

" We already know what the problem is! But you people who 'rule' won't act upon it and keep on calling these useless meetings!", spat a person in the crowd. Soon the mob backed him. Clary had never seen something like this before. Shadowhunters were usually calm and obedient people. Yet now they were angry and wanted to act.

"Shadowhunters! Let us remain calm and solve this problem now", Isabelle said.

"No! We have always listened to the angels, if they didn't push so many angels from heaven we would be able to live our lives in peace. Demons are angels in disguise! So our real battle is against the angels!"

The crowd gasped. No one had ever dared to say that before. Clary felt frigtened. What would happen if people actually started to follow him? The world would turn mad, wars would break out. And that could not happen.

Luckily nobody reacted to the call. Clary heared somebody storm off angrily, hopefully he or she wouldn't return to enrage the mob even more. Even though people didn't follow the attack the angels call they still believed in acting now and not waiting for the conclave. A part of Clary agreed with them, but if there was no conclave who would keep order in these dark times? Again Jace tried to calm the crowd but this time they got even angrier. Most shadowhunters didn't bring weapons to the conclave because it was a safe place, but out of nowhere an arrow came whizzing by and hit Jace in the chest. Clary stood in shock will Isabelle rushed over to Jace. A few seconds later clary ran after her. Vaguely she could hear someone shouting behind her.

" He is an angel that fell from heaven kill him!"

That is absured Clary thought. How could he get in Atlicante? She dismissed the mobs crazy suspicions and battled her way through the crowd to Jace. What if he was fatally wounded? What if there was poison on the arrow tip? These thoughts clouded her brain and blocked off her common sense. And she ran to Jace. Hoping against hope that he would be alive when she got to him.
