The Light of Heaven

Chapter 8

The next morning Clary found a surprise in her bed. She yelled and hugged Jace. Jace said, " Whoa, calm down. It's just me" But he laughed and Clary laughed and they made so much noise that Imogen walked in. She had her trouser the wrong way round and her shirt inside out and a pair of underpants on her head. She yelled triumphantly" I can dress myself!". Jace and Clary both laughed. While Clary helped Imogen Jace went to check on Shawn. They both felt really happy. 

When they finally came downstairs, Sophie had made a full breakfast for them. Clary said" You didn't need to do that, Sophie,"." It was nothing", Sophie replied. They enjoyed a good breakfast and then Jace said that he had to work on something for the Clave and went to his study. Sophie and Clary debated on getting a tutor for Imogen. Sophie said that she was too young but Clary said that it's never to young to learn. In the end they decided that Imogen would be taught one hour everyday except Saturday and Sunday. Clary decided to teach Imogen the basics herself. She settled down to an hour of going over the alphabet and the numbers 1-20. 

Meanwhile Sophie took Shawn to the rose garden and read to him from her favourite book ' The Perks of Being a Wallflower'. She didn't expect for Shawn to understand any of it, but Shawn loved to listen to Sophie read. After 20 minutes Shawn got bored and started to cry. Shawn was still too young to be given a bottle so Clary had to breast feed him. Sophie took Shawn to Clary. When Shawn was full he burped and fell asleep. 

Clary asked Sophie to continue Imogen's lessons while she went to town to the library. Clary missed the huge library in New York so everyday she went to the library to gaze at the books and to read one or two. On the way back Clary chased a demon into an isolated street. Clary didn't expect anyone to see her but on the way back someone clutched her foot. Clary screamed but the woman in rags shut her up. " What was that monster?", She hissed and "What is that blade that you are holding?". Sometimes people where born with the sight but it was very rare. That Clary had found two people with the sight was so unusual that the Clave would take notice. Clary asked the woman to come to the institute so that she could help her. The woman asked " Will their be food?" When Clary said yes the woman wanted to go immediately. On the way to the institute Clary asked, "What is your name?"
