“Youuuuu are the bestest friend in the whole wide worlds.” Sophie slurred as I pulled her to the car. Originally I had hoped I’d be the one she would have to carry out of the bar, too intoxicated to form a sentence. But alas here we were—and by we I mean those lads I had just met tonight—helping me carry my best friend to her car. Sophie giggled and tilted her head to the side, looking at Luke who had his arm around her waist while mine held her under her arms. When she got drunk like this it was like she totally forgot that she had to carry her own weight. I would know, it’s happened many times. “Luke, will you please come back with me?” She whined and Luke only chuckled. Sophie continued muttering and the five of us just ignored her.

When we reached the car, I slid her in the backseat so she could lay down. I didn’t want her puking in it because I would have to be the one to clean it up. I turned back around, greeted by four pairs of eyes. “Well, I guess that’s the end of the night.” We all laughed. “Luke I’ll have her call you tomorrow ok?” He nodded in response, “I’ll probably just take her back to my place and let her crash there.”

“That sounds good. I don’t know what she would do without you Y/N.” His comment made me blush, but in all honesty it was the truth. I’ve pulled her out of a drunken gunk many of times before this. I felt like her mom. I was always the responsible one doing the right thing blah blah blah, it gets old after a while. “It was nice meeting you.” He added and I grinned.

“You too!” I cheered—a bit too happy. “And same goes you guys. I had fun tonight.” I told the others. By fun I meant I didn’t completely want to gouge out my eyeballs throughout the night. And to be honest, I liked hanging out with these guys, and Sophie. They were fun, they didn’t care or worry about anything. If only I could do it that easy.

Michael was the first to speak, “It was fun! We should do it again sometimes.”

I nodded, “Yeah totally.” My eyes trailed to Ashton who stood with his arms crossed over his chest. I had talked to him the least, yet he had the biggest effect on me. I thought quick. What would Sophie do? It probably wasn’t in my best interest to think like someone who was now passed out in the backseat of their own car, but I was doing it anyway. “Uh, maybe tomorrow you all would wanna come over to drink?” They starred for a moment. I had learned earlier from the conversation that they were in fact a packaged deal. Ask for one, you pretty much ask for them all. Luke looked at his friends and I found myself looking at Ashton, as if I was waiting for his approval on the subject.

“Sure! If I’m going to be seeing Sophie, we might as well hang out some more.” Luke told me and I sighed in silent relief.

“Great! I’ll have Sophie text you my address. See ya.” I waved bye and got in the car. Why was that always so hard with other people? I felt like friends with these people already and I’ve only known them for a few hours. Sophie was snoring loudly in the back, which made me only laugh on the way home.

                                                       ~~~
The next morning I went into the kitchen, seeing Sophie already sitting at the table with a cup of coffee in front of her and her hands covering her face.
“Morning sunshine.” I joked, going straight toward the fridge, grabbing the orange juice. “How’s the hangover?”
She groaned, “I normally would get up and smack you but not today. My head is killing me.” Before I poured my drink I went into the cabinet above the sink, grabbing the Advil, handing her two of the small round pills.
“You’ll be very proud of me!” I enthused while she swallowed them.
“Why? Did you get laid?” She perked her head up, smirking.
“No. That is-No anyway. I invited Luke and his friends over here.” I smiled, finally pouring my juice into the cup. Sophie stared at me with an open mouth. “You know if you keep your mouth open you’ll catch flies.” I sipped my drink.
“Wait! Wait! Wait! You invited people over that don’t have anything to do with work? Y/N! I’m so proud of you!” She rushed off the chair and gave me a big hug. “I’ve been waiting for this day since I first met you!”
“Well, if you don’t stop crushing my body there won’t be a party tonight, because it’ll be my funeral instead.” She pulled off of me chuckling.
“I’m just so happy! Did they seem excited?”
I shrugged, “I guess? Any excuse to drink is just that—an excuse to drink.”
“We have so much to do! I’ll go home and shower and change and you go buy the alcohol!”
“Sophie this isn’t a college party. There will be a total of six people, that’s it.” I rebutted.
“Still! We need alcohol! You don’t have enough left in that bottle you keep in your fridge!” She pointed toward the fridge. “Let’s get a move on! We’ve got a lots to do!”
