Pachi. Shiori's hand retracted slowly, away from the Goban that was before her. Her mind, however, was not focused on the game, making her companion concern. A Jounin, her? She did wonder about her skills, perhaps she had been well-rounded but Shiori doubted that her current skills warrant such promotion. A familiar drawl broke her out of her turmoil, "What got you so troubled, Shiori?"

"I'm sorry?" Shiori snapped her head up and tilted her head slightly. Pachi. Shikamaru placed down his own black stone on the smooth surface of the Goban before gesturing at her white one, "It shows in your GO, it's chaotic and troubled."

"Ah... It's nothing, really." Shiori huffed, pachi, placing her own stone down. Her hand went back to the box where the rest of her GO stones were at. Her middle finger laid above her index, reaching into the box for another stone. As soon as the stone was secured in between her fingers, her hand froze, making her stone slip and falling back into the box. Shiori glanced down before picking her stone up again. Shikamaru heaved a heavy sigh before staring at Shiori seriously, "Don't lie."

"I'm not lying..." Shiori trailed off. Pachi. Shikamaru placed his stone down, eyes still trained on her. "Oh?"

"Well, I'm not positioning my body horizontally on a surface." Shiori retorted smartly. Shikamaru snorted at her reply before muttering under his breath, "... Troublesome..."

Shiori laid down her stone and watched as Shikamaru groan in annoyance because the trap she had set seventeen moves back finally came into action to reveal a beautiful pattern. Huffing, Shikamaru bowed his head and muttered "I resign. You won by 7 stones."

Shiori curved her lips up, "Well if we had used the Komi rule it would have been more than so."

"Shut up," Shikamaru grumbled. Shiori chuckled softly under her breath, momentarily throwing her thoughts on the promotion away. Shikamaru yawned, "Do you want to eat something? My treat."

"Sure."

Shikamaru Nara was a genius, one with an intellect higher than most of the people he was surrounded with. When he heard that Sakura had his sister, he was already drawing up an image of a person, perhaps with pink hair too, loud, easily taken in by looks— but of course, his image of Sakura's sister shattered into pieces when the pink haired girl walked in with her eyes cautious and searching for someone.

He was intrigued, alright.

Then Ino decided, yes he was going to meet the new girl whether he liked it or not. At that time, he was not entirely sure what he expected, maybe a personality change? Sakura has been meek and quiet before the Sasuke fiasco. He watched as the other girl trudged along with her sister, hand never far away from where her kunai pouch was. Shikamaru immediately knew that this was someone who took their career seriously and had seen things, whether consciously or not, the other was a paranoid ninja.

Then Ino had asked that God forbidden question, boys. Of all things, Shikamaru honestly does not see what was so good about one Sasuke Uchiha, hell, he could see more to like in a random stranger than the rude, conceited Uchiha. He was rude, always pushing people away, has superiority and inferiority complex, thinks he's King of the world– Shikamaru really does not see the appeal.

So when Ino had asked, he had all but wanted to stay in the place, wanting to hightail out of there. To his surprise, instead of gushing about the boy, Shiori had appeared to be confused at the question and answered in such an analytical way that had Shikamaru on the verge of laughter, of course, the look on the girls' faces weren't helping much.
