Hayes POV:

I looked up ahead and then I see Hailey fall to the ground.

Oh shit.

I run up to her body that's sprawled out on the ground. I look for her pulse and she is still breathing but not conscious. I struggled to hold back the tears.

It was my fault, I'm the one that fucking raced her. If I had never asked her to race me she would have never been unconscious. I finally couldn't take it anymore. I let it all out.

I felt my eyes well up with tears.

I then called 911 and the ambulance arrived a couple minutes later. They told me that I could ride with her in the ambulance to the hospital.

I hopped onto the ambulance and there was her fragile body lying on the stretcher. I just wanted to hold her in my arms.

We arrived at the hospital and they told me that I would have to wait in the waiting room while she was in surgery. While I was waiting impatiently her family arrived a few minutes later.

"Um Hayes we should let you know something." Her mother said.

"Yeah?" I said nervously.

"When Hailey was little she hit her head pretty bad and it left her with a severe concussion. The doctor said time the hit hurt her brain." Her mom said.

The doctor said she was in a coma with a 50% chance of surviving.

But he told one thing that could change my life forever.

She might have memory loss when she wakes up.

My muscles tenses up as soon as he said those words.

I decided that I was going to spend every single moment I can with her. I walked into her room and she was laying there with all these machines hooked up too her. I sat down in the chair next to her and grabbed her hand. I know I just met her today but I really like her. And with that I fell asleep with her hand in mine.

I woke up to all of her family gone. I leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"I'll miss you beautiful." I mumbled as I walked out of the room.

The elevator was packed full the way down to the parking lot. I was starting to get a little chlostrophobic.

I grabbed my penny board and road it home.

Minutes later I came up to my house.

"I'm home!" I yelled as I walked through the front door.

I walked up to my room and slammed the door shut. I just needed time alone.

"This is all my fault!!" I yelled and punched the wall.

"I'm a fucking dickhead!" I said and punched the wall again.

My hand was all bloody and was thriving with pain.

"Are you okay?" A voice asked.

I turned around and Nash was standing in the door way.

"It's not your fault hayes. It's nobody's fault. Stop taking the blame when you didn't do it." Nash said while walking out of my room.

Hayes POV:

**2 weeks later**

Hailey has been in a coma for 2 weeks now and I have been really sad . Today is Saturday and I thought I would go and visit her. My mom dropped me off at the hospital and went to her room and sat down on the chair. I started to talk to her because I missed her.

"Hailey Ann Murphy, I know I have only known you for 2 weeks but I am in love with you. I love you so much. Please wake up. Please." I said as I started to cry.

"Hayes." I heard someone say.

" Go away Nash" I said without looking up.

"No Hayes it's me Hailey. I'm awake." Hailey said.

I look up to see two very beautiful brown eyes staring back at me. I hoped she did not hear what I had said about loving her.

"Did you hear what I said?" I asked

"Yes I did and I'm glad you said that because I love you Hayes." She said while smiling

And without even thinking I leaned in and kissed her lips.

"Ehhemm" someone coughed.

We pulled apart and saw the doctor standing there.

" you two can finish that somewhere else and Hailey I am so glad to see that you awake! Both of you are free to go whenever you would like." The doctor said while smiling.

Thank you." I said

Hailey got dressed into some clothes and then we left. I had my mom come and pick both of us up because both of Hailey's parents were at work. Me and her sat in the back seat. On the way home she fell asleep on my shoulder. I never wanted this moment to end.
